Interview
So you apply online and submit your resume (optional) then wait to see if you get an interview. HERE IS WHERE IT GETS VERY MISLEADING. Everyone who applies gets an interview. Since its all done by computer, there is no manager or rep from the store even looking at your file until you submit it and it tells them you've scheduled an interview. So don't get your hopes up just because you get an interview. The interview itself is very casual (but still professional). They have a set list of questions they ask, (e.g. Why did you choose Macys?, Why do you think you would be an asset to the team?, etc.) My interview lasted about 15-20 minutes. I've only ever worked in retail so I have quite a bit experience so they pretty much told me what they had available and let me choose. This should not be expected because obviously everyone has a different background. Although, I ultimately decided to go with Women's Shoes which is commission and I didn't have any experience in commissioned sales before so they definitely have flexibility if you show you could handle it.

Question 1
One question that kind of caught me off guard was "Tell me about a time you went above and beyond for a customer." This kind of stumped me, and I am in no way trying to toot my own horn, but I always do everything I can to make a customer happy. I just think it's what makes a happy and healthy work environment; so it was difficult for me to pinpoint just one time.
Was interviewed for a seasonal position. Was told they have no seasonal positions, once they found out I was a college student. Made no sense to me quickly ended the interview.
The interview process was straightforward and fairly quick. It started with a phone interview from a recruiter or hiring representative who asked general questions about my background, availability, and interest in the role. The tone was professional but conversational, and the interviewer focused on making sure I could handle a fast-paced, customer-facing environment.
I had one interview with the store manager and it lasted for about 45 minutes. The interview was all standard behavioral questions. I was offered the job on the spot.
