The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Macy's (Los Angeles, CA) in May 2011
Interview
i had to schedule myself for an interview at Macy`s website, which showed availability after a week of getting an email of being selected. It was at one a clock and I met this really warm woman who said she would be interviewing me for the position of a retail associate, turns out that before she even started she told me there weren't really looking for and asked me what i would like to work as, then she told me at the moment there were no availabilities to which I was slightly disappointed because I naturally assumed there was an opening and they were making selections. Then she goes in and calls on another of her superior who interviews me ,and says I should check back in two days time.So the interview was quiet good, but I am left with an uncertain answer if they wanted to hire someone or not.
I applied online. I interviewed at Macy's (New York, NY)
Interview
Applied online, received an email invitation to interview and met with one floor manager. They ask a lot about your experience with sales and goes over expectations. I was given an offer after my interview was over.
The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Macy's (Schaumburg, IL) in Jun 2011
Interview
I arrived 10 minutes early (as requested on the website), and still have to wait 15 minutes for my interviewer to begin the interview. The man who interviewed me kept creepily laughing and smiling at me (I'm male) which definitely creeped me out. I thought I answered all his questions quite well and none of my answers seemed bad or inappropriate and I thought the interview went quite well. After about 30 minutes of asking randomly assorted questions, he left to talk to some other managers about the position, and came back and denied me of the position on the spot. He told me I wasn't enthusiastic enough and didn't seem like a good fit to sell clothes at Macy's. I felt extremely disrespected my him and the company and will never shop there again and will recommend my friends to avoid it as well. For a place with signs that say they're always hiring, the hiring process was not easy and I really don't know what their criteria for employees are. I would avaoid this company at all costs.
