      Software Developer Interview

      2 Dec 2015
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Costa Mesa, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through university. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at MeridianLink (Costa Mesa, CA) in Nov 2015

      Interview

      1. The first step, you need to answer a technical coding question online. You are allowed 1 hour to do it. This should not be difficult as along as you have some programming experience before. 2. If you do well in the coding question, the next step is a phone interview with hiring manger. To be honest, it was the worst interview I have ever had. First, the interviewer called me half a hour late than the scheduled time. Second, the interviewer just went over a list of questions he prepared. I believed the interviewer was not a software engineer or developer because whenever my answer to the questions were not exactly the same as the answer he had on his paper, he would sound unhappy. For some questions he asked, I was very sure I provided the correct answers. However, I felt he disagreed with my answers. So, I asked him what were the right answers. He told me I should find out after the interview. Before the interview ended, I attempted to clarify a few answers to the questions he asked. He seemed not patient at all and stopped me again and again. Right after the interview, I searched the questions he asked me and discussed with my friends almost all the questions he asked which turned out most of my answers were correct. I applied the job position because I was very interested in it. However, the interviewer really disappointed me. Not everyone will memorize the answers from wikipedia if that is how the interviewer checks the correctness of the questions he asks. The only thing I feel good about the interview process was that the HR was nice and response quickly.

Thank you for your feedback, and your nice comments about our HR. We're sorry you felt your phone interview wasn't a positive experience. We try to be prompt for all interviews, but the unexpected happens sometimes. In those cases, we usually notify the candidate that we may be calling a little late or that we have to reschedule, and apologize for the inconvenience. We're in process of conducting a review of several of our processes here, and our goal is to ensure all candidates have a great interview experience. Again, thank you for taking the time to provide valuable feedback.

      Missouri City, TX

      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at MeridianLink (Missouri City, TX) in Oct 2023

      Interview

Had multiple interviews, the first one was a preliminary reach out, while the second was a technical interview. What offended me was that they had the audacity to ask me to rate their interview through a questionnaire, afterwhich I recieved an email saying I was declined. When I tried to reach back out to see why they didn't respond. If you're going to have the gall to ask me how you did, at least return the courtesy.

      Question 1

The hardest question asked was how to reverse an array without loops. They didn't say recursion and wanted you to step to that answer yourself.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 7 weeks. I interviewed at MeridianLink

      Interview

There was a phone interview with HR followed by an interview with the team then a technical interview. It took over a month to set up the follow-up interview with a lot of confusion with the HR people and figuring put the timezones for the calls. The interviews got canceled and rescheduled at least 4 times (2 times the interviewer just no-showed). One of the interviewers joined the call late and was very rude. Overall it was a terrible experience and should not have bothered continuing with this process
