I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Penguin Random House in May 2019
Interview
I applied for PRH's Summer Internship program. There were offerings in multiple departments. After applying, I didn't hear back for months. I was contacted by HR via email to set up a phone chat. The chat was with an HR associate who was very sweet. It was a casual conversation with typical questions. Later that week, I got a call that a hiring manager wanted to speak with me. A few days later, I had a call with the hiring manager to discuss the internship and the team. Very few questions about me, I guess they liked me from my resume. The next day the HR representative called me and said I was offered the intern position!
I interviewed at Penguin Random House (London, England)
Interview
Filled out 3 competency questions online, these were ten assessed and if you were rated highly you went to next round which was hireview, then if selected individual interview and a group task
Very nice interviewer, felt very conversational. I wasn't well-prepared, but as long as you know your resume well, you should be fine even though it is competitive. Very corporate feel as expected of such a large publishing group.

Question 1
What is a recent challenge you have faced and how have you handled it?
One round of interview. Pretty standard questions about strengths, weaknesses, experience. Be prepared to talk about different facets of publishing and how you would benefit from the internship and contribute to the department.
