      Android Engineer Interview

      31 Aug 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      London, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Plum (London, England)

      Interview

I had a first conversation with the recruiter and the Android tech lead which went well, then I got the tech assignment which was super demanding, I got design files to replicate and I was told to provide a production ready app in 1 week/10 days. I can definitely say they were looking at everything, pagination, the absence of style/theme, localization, encryption, which felt too much especially if you are still working and doing multiple interviews, salary offered was also quite poor to be honest. They are definitely looking for a Senior Android to pay as Mid Level at best.

Dear Candidate, 📩 Thanks for submitting your feedback! We understand that engaging for a new job opportunity while still being employed could be an extra thing on your plate and that is why we are always flexible with the timeframe we give our candidates to work on the Task (we’ve given extensions any time we’ve been asked). 🕑 However, for us to make sure we are giving all our candidates equal opportunity for the role, we need to give a deadline. Being able to submit the Task on time also gives us indication of the candidate’s commitment to the process and Plum. ✍️ In regards to salary expectations, our Talent Team always ask candidates during the initial calls what the expectations are so candidates can make a judgement if this works for them and if they want to continue the process.💰 In this sense, we presume that you were satisfied to continue the process till the final stage and it was your choice. We are a start-up and unfortunately, we cannot compare with the Googles and the Facebooks of the industry in terms of salary packages and we are open about it. Still, our London Android Engineer’s salary is above average for senior level based on Glassdoor’s stats. People who join Plum do not join for the high salaries but because of their passion for financial inclusion and their interest to work on a fintech product with an impact. ❤️‍🔥 Hope this makes sense and it has brought you some clarity. Talent Team is always available if you have any further questions. Best regards, Talent Team 💜
