Went through 2 rounds of interviews with recruiters, then met with H.R. and finally a hiring agent. Once those interviews went well I was aked to meet with a brand new operations director and potential subordinate and the software engineer who has been with premier for 20 years. Immediately one individual did not put on their camera, and then repeated the same question over and over again. How do you build a clinical trials department? I explained different aspects from a marketing and sales perspective, buisness development, the physical aspects, the recruitment. Despite awnsering broadly and then specifically with situations and the star method the same questions was repeatedly rephrased. It became clear that this person was hired to complete that task and the opening of this role was because leadership did not think they were capable. The other individual explained that there was a divide about what type of person to hire, and the overall goals and market/therapuetic specific clinical trials that they wished to expand into. Its clear that between the hiring agent and the team that there is a significant disconnect. They then went on to ask if I would be willing to start this new department as a part time employee doing 5 hours a week as an independant contractor completely changing the full time role. Its obvious they dont know what they want, stay away.
