Initial phone screening went well and job seemed like a good fit. After that it went downhill quickly. Moving to the technical it was fast discovered that the job description requirements and actual responsibilities were quite different (different specialty within the same field). This placed both myself and the tech interview team in an awkward place where we both knew the fit was not right and the process should have ended there. Instead the tech interview team proceeded to describe my current field/specialty, to me, as less valuable than theirs for 30+ minutes even going so far as to recommend that I take first year college classes. While I stayed respectful and humble throughout the remainder of the technical interview, it was very unprofessional to have interviewers look down on others if they are not the same type of SME/specialty. Especially when myself and the interview team were all over 15+ years of experience in our respective areas.
