      Customer Service Representative Interview

      24 Mar 2017
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Austin, TX
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Procore Technologies (Austin, TX) in Mar 2017

      Interview

It began with an initial phone screen with a recruiter, who recommended an onsite interview. In office, I met with the manager of the team, the team lead, and an employee who began as a CSR. I have years of experience and knowledge that made me qualified for the role, and felt that each step of my interview had gone well: building good rapport with each of the people I met with, presenting my best self, and demonstrating my strength as a candidate. I was actually shocked when I received an email from recruiting the next day, letting me know that they "weren't continuing my application." When I wrote back to the recruiter (the only point of contact for the whole process) requesting feedback as to my rejection, they stated that they weren't able to provide any, only that my application was being discontinued. I get that each company vets candidates in their own way, and makes decisions that they feel will benefit them in the long term. But when a candidate's perception of themselves is so apparently misaligned with the company's, it feels a bit like being gaslighted when they won't provide any feedback regarding the nature of their decision. Some of us are out here trying to improve their careers and grow, and would appreciate knowing what makes us so apparently unattractive as candidates - especially for entry-level roles. Virtually everything you can find about Procore is a glowing, positive review of how wonderful it is to work there, how the culture is top-notch, the people are great, everyone believes in what they do, etc. It's a big part of why I applied in the first place! But if I'm not going to be extended an offer, it would be nice to know even a little bit about why.

      Interview

Passed the screening call with flying colors, so I spent a long time preparing the answers that they told me to prepare with my prospective manager. Turns out that was a huge waste of time, the guy came on the call and acted like I was a huge inconvenience to his day, asked me only 3 vague questions and wrapped up our 45 min long interview in 20 min. Generally really rude, obviously didn't want to be on the call. Please don't waste people's time if you are not genuinely interested in the candidate.

      Application

I interviewed at Procore Technologies (Austin, TX)

      Interview

I reached out to the hiring manager on LinkedIn and was able to schedule an interview. I had sent my resume into their system in the past, but I would get a rejection seven months after submitting it, so I am not sure they really have a process there. The interviewer who would have been over me was a condescending jerk know-it-all who would have been difficult to take seriously as a Manager.
