I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Progressive Insurance in Oct 2023
I did not like my experience with progress Human resources was not clear with me during the offer process. The recruiter initially stated that the training will be for 6 months. Also stated that I will get my license and there will be a training for it. It sound great because it was a long training and you get a trainer to teach you the testing requirements. In reality training is not 6 months and only two weeks for the licensing. They should be more clear with people. I was definitely lied to and deceived.
- Q: Do you have your personal lines license ?

The interview process was straight forward. They use a video site to record your answer. They use STAR method to answer the questions. You get the answer and then it gives you some seconds to think and then you get a certain number of minutes to record your response. If you don’t like it, you can record a second attempt. It took about 30-40 minutes. If you pass you will get an email from a recruiter asking to set up a phone interview.
- Have you ever had a difficult customer and how did you handle it. (Answer using the STAR format Situation/Task, Action, Result)

Video interview, two phone interviews (30 minutes and one hour). For the first interview, I had to record my answers and submit them. Once chosen, I moved on to the hiring manager and spoke with her for an hour.

I applied online and recieved an assessment link. A week later a video interview was requested. 3-4 days after the submitted video interview was submitted I recieved a 1 on 1 interview request at corporate office. The interview lasted about an hour and 10 minutes. You must answer in the STAR format and be as detailed as possible. The interviewer takes pages and pages of notes. The Recruiter told me they have a weekly recruiter meeting and make recommendations on the candidates and it can take 5-10 business days to hear back on the decision. My one on one was on a Monday, I heard back on that Friday. Accepted the offer, background check request was sent over as well as the official offer letter. Background Check is extensive and took about 6 days to complete. Offer letter was then resent without the contingencies!
- Tell me about a time when you had to make a tough decision, what were your options and which did you choose and why? (literally the only question I can remember)

Anonymous Employee in Colorado Springs, CO
I applied online. I interviewed at Progressive Insurance (Colorado Springs, CO) in Jan 2019
The interview is very thorough, STAR process and they only hire about 1% of applicants. The interviews are definitely very targeted towards specifics and but my experience was pleasant because even when I was very nervous my recruiter told me to take my time to think about answers and was very easy to talk to.
- Tell me about a time you had a conflict with a coworker, how did you handle it?

S.T.A.R method is heavily utilized. Make sure to have specific answers with the questions asked. And make sure to ask some questions at the end of the interview. Know something about the company to show some real interest.
- Tell me about a time you had to work with a difficult co worker.

The entire process involved an online assessment upon submitting my application, a phone interview with a recruiter, and a one on one interview with two separate hiring managers. All in all it took about a month from the time I applied to when I got the call with a job offer.
