3 verschiedene Termine: Recruiter-Call, Vorort-Gespräch mit Recruiter und Abteilungsleiter, Vorort-Tag um das Team kennenzulernen und Einstellungstests zu absolvieren. Der Prozess war meines Erachtens nach ein wenig zu lang. Insgesamt gab es inkl. der beiden Gespräche am Vorort-Tag 4 Gespräche, was ich für etwas überladen hielt.

The interview process consisted of two rounds that spanned over two weeks. The first interview was very general of around one hour. The second interview was to present a case study, also of around one hour. The interviewers were friendly.

  • The first round had questions such as why this job? Why this company? Discussion about my technical skills. If given a chance, what kind of skill would you like to develop? The second round was about presenting a case study related to A/B testing of the website. It was expected to do extensive data modelling for the same and only 5 days were given.

Es gibt zwei verschiedene "Runden" am Anfang gibt es ein Video Interview mit Aufzeichnung, dann innerhalb von 5 Tagen ein Feedback ob man für die zweite Runde berücksichtigt wird oder nicht. In der zweiten Runde kommt es dann zu einem persönlichem Interview.

Insgesamt drei Runden. 1. Vorstellung beim Recruiter 2. Videogespräch mit Recruiter und Teamleiter mit einem Rollenspiel, verkaufe ein Produkt am Telefon. 3. Videogespräch mit einem Recruiter und den Verkaufscoach. Insgesamt sehr angenehm und es ging auch recht schnell Vorwärts zu den nächsten Runden

Apart from initial 15min call with recruiter it was a 3 step process. First I had a call with BA Lead - mostly about my experience, my understanding of the role of BA in Agile environment. After that I had a 1h call with Senior BA and BA Lead for which I had to prepare an assignment - a user story to critique and fix and a question about non functional requirements. During this call I also got few scenarios and questions what would I do. Last call was with local Dev managers and the recruiter. With dev managers it was mostly to figure out how I work with developers, while the part with recruiter was rather typical HR interview.

  • What would you do if a Product Owner suddenly chose a sprint goal that is not in line with company goals and derails teams roadmap?
  • A fellow BA asks you to take-over from them facilitation of a workshop/meeting that starts in 5 minutes - what do you ask about, what info do you need before you start this meeting?
  • How do you identify and capture non functional requirements?

Laut Internet umfasst der Vorstellungsprozess bei Stepstone ca 5 Schritte. Nach einem anscheinend positiv beindruckendem Videointerview, konnte der Termin für das erste Telefongespräch idealerweise selbst im Stepstone-Kalender ausgewählt werden. Die automatische Mailkommunikation war umfangreich. Der Anruf des Recruiters kam verspätet, der Recruiter wirkte gehetzt und arbeitete anscheinend einen Fragenkatalog ab. Im Laufe des Gesprächs stellte er fest, dass mein (vorher geschickter) Lebenslauf keine Übereinstimmung mit der Stelle enthält. Die Gehaltsrange wurde erst bekannt gegeben nachdem der eigene Gehaltswunsch genannt wurde. Ansonsten im Gespräch selbst, keine außergewöhnlichen Fragen. Der Recruiter wollte sich nach Rücksprache mit seinen Kollegen wieder melden, was nicht geschehen ist.

1) I was contacted by an HR of Stepstone who was located in Belgium, but was hiring for Dusseldorf Data Scientist position. I had no problem communicating with the HR, it was very smooth. 2) I was given a home assignment with their project data. And I had task to propose some insights out of it. I finished and sent it to the concerned team. It was accepted very soon and I was invited to Dusseldorf, Germany. The NIGHTMARE, D-DAY 3) I had to present the same insights and solutions I did in assignment to a panel, mostly senior management people. I took day off from my job in Paris, and went to Dusselfdorf, I had high hopes, I even prepared some really interesting ideas on top of the solutions of assignment. On arrival, I was asked to wait, I waited around 45 mins and then the manager I was in touch with took me to a meeting room. The manager could not find an empty room easily and he took me to a huge conference room. First of all it was a well scheduled interview, how can a big company, and a manager cant even find a proper room for presentation. (There was this manager and me in the room, and other two people were joining through video conferencing.) OK, the next hurdle was that, since I had to present it on my laptop, I had to connect, but I wasnt given any guest wifi service to even open internet to present the managers joining via tele conferencing. For the first time I saw a manager creating hot-spot through own phone asking to mail to him so that I can present from his pc. Are you kidding me??, you invite an outstation candidate taking important day (I started at morning 5 am) , tired without breakfast I was still excited to give presentation, and there is such a poor management? I had to finally present it on his solution(Thank God I created a pdf of all my work at least). But the biggest problem was I had so many other solutions in my mind, which I wanted to present such as GraphDB solutions, other interesting Data Science solution I build over their data. But no, all got SHATTERED, because I had to present it on his pc. Anyways, THE BIGGEST problem was that the guys didn't even know what to look into a Data Scientist, I was focusing on the Exploratory Data Analysis and kept model in the End , because ask any Data Scientist, and he would tell you that analysing Data is the trickiest part, and modelling is a small part of it, which comes only after we have gained some insight from the Data. But one the guys ( I am sorry I dont remember his name, he was bit bald, thats how I remember him) he treated me so badly, he had a red face he was growing impatient, not even looking at my presentation and asking me 'can you please finish' it and go in the end. I felt humiliated, as an outsation candidate taking out time , and presenting things, to you guys. And you guys don't even have patience to even listen it?? Anyways, the nightmare session ended. And, and just because I WORKED hard in doing assignments, I asked the manager (after the other two people ended the video conference), that would he be interesting in seeing other solution I built in my laptop? He chuckled , and said "Not needed". Never ever have I in my life felt so humiliated, and embarassed, that too in final round of an interview. Interviews like such really can change someone's life, it really matter to candidates, and as a recruiting platform company, you guys should yourself should atleast follow the best practice. Such incidents leave lasting impact on candidate's mind. Embarrassed, I left silently the building, took the train and left the city. *PS - the only sensible person in whole process was the HR who contacted me. Others were literally frustrating.

Sehr professionelles Vorgehen mit telefonischer Vorauswahl und praktischem Probetag. Zeitnahe Rückmeldung auf Fragen und auch sonst war der Prozess schnell und einfach. Das Bewerbungsgespräch wurde mit drei Personen gehalten, Recruiter, Chef der Fachabteilung und einem Kollegen in spe.

HR called then set up Skype interview which was handled well. Unfortunately never heard back from CPO despite chasing HR. Pretty poor, especially for a recruitment firm. Strongly suggest avoiding!
