I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Uber (Bellflower, CA) in Jun 2014
Interview
I sent my resume in June 4th and did not receive an initial response. My Gmail client may have deleted their email to me because on June 20th, I received a follow up email expressing their interest, but had not received the "Homework" assignment. I requested the information again, politely telling the recruiter what may have happened, and was promptly given another email with the attached assignment on the 23rd. I filled it out and sent it in June 24th.
I received a "Great News!" response that same day, and gave them my Skype availability which they promptly set up an interview on the 26th, which went very well. I had read some reviews where people were asked for the position right at the initial interview, but I received my offer today the 27th via Skype call on my cell phone.

Question 1
The homework assignment was not difficult at all if you have been in customer service before. It is all about maintaining a positive and upbeat manner using text, which can be tough for some people. I was able to integrate jokes while keeping with key CS points; empathy and support, and making the person feel that they are important.
The interview was straight forward - we went over my resume and the interviewer wanted to know what my past support roles were and how they would integrate with Uber Support. Once we established that I had the tools they were looking for, along with some mild conversational banter (my interviewer was a very laid back guy), he told me they would get back to me ASAP; within 1-2 days.
After a few hours, I sent a thank you to both the recruiting department as well as my interviewer, even though he did not give me his Uber email, it was not hard to figure out what format they used.
