I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at VIPKid (Beijing, Beijing) in Apr 2018
Interview
"Interview" as they called it, was completed per their request. It was a 3-5 min video of me introducing myself, background etc. This was immediately accepted and a contract was even drawn up with an hourly wage listed. However, there are two mock classes you will need to go through first. Only at the very end of mock class 2 was I told by the instructor, " From here, you will be given a pass, fail, or asked for another mock class (3), depending on how you did. This will be reported back to you in 1-2 business days. I was told the very next day (on a Sunday) that i did not get the job, despite my strong performance and my very talented interview". They were looking for "different strengths" that suit their students. Sadly, like so many others, I spent probably around $100 and cleaned out my daughter's playroom, based on how excited VIPkid acted toward bringing me on board.
One other thing, and a word to the wise, DO NOT be like me and research other so-called VIPkid teachers on You Tube. They have phoney teaching styles that are NOT acceptable in VIPkid format. I learned this the hard way.

While we hope that when applying that our applicants are able to prepare as well as they feel they have, VIPKID does not require the purchase of classroom items or equipment during the application process. You are welcome to email us at teachvip@vipkid.com.cn if you have further questions.
just a quick demo lesson following the course materials, then a few logistical questions and talk about the program. Was quite quick and easy overall if you have teaching experience..
Pretty simple! There was a live and recorded portion where you "teach" a sample class. My interviewer was nice and helpful. Make sure your internet is good and use a wired connection
Easy and straight forward interview process. There is a demo teaching section. This was a while ago so it may have changed. The onboarding process was also easy. Again, this was a while ago, so it may have changed.
