A typical conversation with a recruiter for a senior-level software engineering position. During the next 2nd interview, I was greeted by a person who did not even introduce himself and was extremely rude and pushy. He immediately gave me a "problem" to solve - I believe it was counting the number of characters in a string, and then reporting a count per character. I was like "What is this?!" I shared my screen, then opened VS Code and he said "No No No you cannot use VS Code!!" I had to use a text editor. LOL. I declined the interview after this. I mean c'mon, was that for real? What kind of a way is it to interview someone with experience for a senior-level software engineering position? Requesting someone to do a CompSci 101 problem in a text editor. Avoid companies who ask you to do such things as they have zero measure for success prediction. Also, I prefer to work for a company that employs people with MANNERS.
