Hiring manager screen + onsite
My onsite consisted of 4 video conference calls, which was impersonable and a waste of time. All of my interviewers asked me rapid fire questions without any meaningful conversation; I felt like I was just jumping through hoops. They touted their company as “cream of the crop, hiring the top 5% in the valley” but I left Zuora without an inkling of why anyone would want to work there.
On top of that, the coordinator acted rude and condescending towards me, telling me verbatim that I shouldn’t be kicking people out of the conference room, especially when I don’t even work there (some employees walked into my room mid-interview not realizing I was on a call). They also kept referring to Zuora as a “scrappy startup” which was silly considering that they went public a year ago.
Join the recruiting team if you have a nondescript background yet think very highly of yourself and you’ll fit right in! Apparently they incentivize their employees to write positive Glassdoor reviews so take what you see with a grain of salt.
In the end they told me I didn't have enough experience for the role, which is laughable because you can clearly see my experience from my resume but instead of rejecting me outright, they decided to go through the entire interview process to tell me that. It seemed like the hiring manager was insecure of his ability to train someone and had no prior management experience. Recruiting is not rocket science. Glad I dodged that bullet!
