What do you know about Primark?

1 Answers

I know that it's an Irish store and that the first store opened in 1969 over there as Penneys. When they wanted to expand into the UK, they couldn't use the name Penneys as there was another business with the name which is where Primark came from. I know that the biggest store is also in Manchester and that there are 290 stores across Britain and other countries. Their biggest competitors are H&M, Matalan and big supermarkets such as Asda. (Went into detail about why each are competitors) Less

Why do you want to work at Primark?

1 Answers

I wasn't looking for anything in particular, but Primark is such a loved and well known company that when the opportunity arose it seemed perfect. Nightshift appeals to me massively so that I don't have to pay a lot in childcare! I also had a friend who worked at the store in Edinburgh and she had nothing but good things to say about the experience (then spoke in more detail about her). Less

A customer has seen a dress that's in the window display, but it's all sold out. What do you tell her?

1 Answers

I know it's lovely isn't it! It's been so popular that it's actually out of stock in this store. We should be getting more in stock on *insert date*, or if you can't wait I can get one delivered in from another store if you can give me your contact details! Otherwise I could show her a dress that is similar in store and just apologise for any inconvenience it has caused her! Less

(I can't remember the exact question) 5 most important things you can bring to the role

1 Answers

Communication completely, I have been a part of many different teams of various sizes and without communication you're failing. A willingness to do any task to get the work done and no "that's not my job" attitude. Able to work on my own and just do a job when it needs done without faffing around. (I can't remember what else, this one is a bit vague) Less

What order would you put the following: a) there is stock lying all over the shop floor and needs to be tidied, b) your manager asks you to refill the nearest unit of tshirts then c) a customer approaches you with a question..

1 Answers

For me the most important part is the customer, without a customer you have no business they are the heart of the business so the enquiry would definitley be the most crucial task. If they ask for something that is out of stock on the floor you can always go and find it in the stockroom! Secondly, nobody wants to browse in a shop that isn't kept clean therefore tidying up the stock on the floor would be task number two. Lastly I would replenish the stock, I would obviously explain to my manager why I was doing so. (After answering this question he told me that's how they would expect everybody or try and encourage everybody to handle things!) Less

The customer gets the dress, but there's a long queue at the dressing rooms and they're starting to complain. What would you do?

1 Answers

If I was able to, and didn't have urgent tasks of my own, I could offer to help at the waiting room if it's a staffing issue causing the delay! There are 2 different dressing rooms in the store so I could tell them to try the one on the floor below. As a last resort, I can tell them about the returns policy so if they really don't want to wait in the queue they can take it home to try and return it if absolutely necessary! (I am yet to hear back about the position but there is no option to say that!) Less

What are your long term career plans?

1 Answers

(I lied because I don't have any long term plans to tell the truth, this question got me a bit haha). I can see myself remaining in retail, there is a massive opportunity for growth and maybe even in Primark is where I will remain! Who knows? Less

How would you rate yourself out of 5?

1 Answers

Probably between 3 and 4. I'm not always the most confident person ans I tend to need a bit of reassurance that I'm doing things correctly. In relation to this role I obviously don't have any prior experience in retail but I will work so hard. Less
