We are predominantly based in the South West of the UK so, although the role is remote-based, we are ideally looking for someone in the Bristol, Bath, Wiltshire, Somerset, Gloucestershire or Devon area.

    To support our continued expansion, we have an exciting opportunity for an ambitious Assistant Management Accountant to strengthen our finance team as we embark on the next stage of our journey.

    As Assistant Management Accountant you will support the Financial Controller with the day-to-day financial administration, management and strength of the business. You will take ownership of the following activities to ensure that there is a solid foundation of good data and effective support enabling management decision-making and further growth:

    Financial administration tasks, including:

    • Preparing client invoicing
    • Carrying out bank reconciliations
    • Assisting with credit control
    • Preparing weekly payment runs
    • Assisting with the monthly payroll and pension run
    • Producing quarterly VAT returns for review
    • Ensuring intercompany accounts are reconciled monthly
    • Ensuring weekly timesheets are completed and accurately reported on for the group
    • Having responsibility for purchase orders being raised and receipted accurately
    • Providing cross-cover and support for the Finance Assistant

    Reporting and analysis tasks, including:

    • Assisting with the production of monthly management accounts
    • Producing weekly debtor/cash reports
    • Assisting with the development of the monthly reporting pack
    • Assisting with forecasting and budgeting
    • Keeping client analysis information up to date

    Activities supporting our expansion and simplifying how we work, including:

    • Providing finance support to the wider group, including to any new group companies
    • Contributing to the Group business plans and objectives
    • Ensuring the Finance team’s documents are filed in good order on SharePoint
    • Looking for all opportunities to improve systems and processes
    • Ensuring that employees across the Group are working within our procedures and processes

    The Assistant Management Accountant is expected to set a positive example to others, operating a ‘no withholds’ environment that encourages our culture of balance, passion and openness and has our core values of Creativity, Leadership and Integrity at its heart.

    To be successful in this role, you will need:

    • Level 4 AAT qualification preferable
    • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
    • Good knowledge of Xero (or similar accountancy software)
    • Knowledge of a broad range of bookkeeping processes having worked in a varied finance role
    • Ideally to have worked within Media/Marketing/Professional services sector
    • Exceptional attention to detail and a love of ‘getting it right’
    • Outstanding communication and negotiation skills with an ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including our clients
    • Excellent ability to solve problems and challenges whilst understanding and offering solutions
    • Ability to deal with the ambiguity and varied challenges that come in a small, evolving business
    • Commercial acumen, including an awareness of sustainable business operations
    • Ability to work independently: a self-starter who is confident in their own abilities and decisions, and able to prioritise
    • Excellent time management skills where you can juggle multiple responsibilities
    • Strong organisational skills
    • Confidence to take ownership of core tasks, being trusted to get things done whilst knowing when to ask for help
    • Ability to stay focused on deadlines and achieve set goals
    • To be positive, participative, friendly and supportive, collaborative, inquisitive, consistent and self-disciplined

    In addition to a competitive remuneration package (salary, bonus, healthcare and pension), we offer 34 days holiday a year (including bank holidays) for full-time employees (pro rata for part-time), fully remote-based working, flexibility on working hours, community/charity days every quarter, and regular team get togethers.

    Whilst this is advertised as a full-time opportunity, we would consider applications from individuals wishing to work part-time (such as 4 days a week or 5 shorter days).
