EastEnders is the multi award winning soap broadcast four times a week on BBC ONE. It currently ranks as one of the most watched TV dramas in the UK tackling many controversial and taboo issues previously unseen on television in the UK. Through great writing and attention to detail the show manages to successfully balance gritty realism with high drama and entertainment to keep its millions of dedicated viewers coming back for more, on-screen and on-line, every week.
BBC EastEnders is looking for a social-savvy Assistant Producer to make visually impactful digital and social content and videos. You’ll use creative design film and video skills to produce fast-turnaround edits and short form video content.
You’ll report to the Digital Producer.
This role is key to helping our content be the most impactful, creative and innovative it can be on social media, candidates will be required to shoot and edit video content for our social media, ensuring we make the correct impact with young audiences, with video output largely revolving around short form and ultra-short-form mediums.
You’ll need to live and breathe social media so knowing your memes and online references is just as important as knowing your way around the Adobe Creative suite (Photoshop and Premier are key tools).
You will be required to pitch your own ideas around stories and successfully tap into what our audience wants to consume, so a keen interest in Drama, especially EastEnders is beneficial.
The successful candidate will need to be able to work quickly and under pressure, often moving from idea generation to final design in the space of an hour or two, with a requirement on occasion to work within a team on the larger digital commissions, such as Albert Squared.
Working in social media means our Assistant Producer is constantly treading a fine line between informing and entertaining, so being required to recognise when to do both, while always maintaining our high editorial standards is essential for this role.

Location: BBC Elstree
Salary: £29,000 - £33,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience
* Although this role will usually operate on “standard” Monday-Friday hours, occasional weekend or out-of-hours working may be required*
**This is a standard Studios Production contract and potentially can involve up to 55 hours per week **
