    Term: Full-time, Permanent

    As a member of the Senior Management Team the post holder is responsible for providing professional HR leadership to the Metroline Manchester business. They are responsible for leading on our chosen management approach, which is designed around the Employee Experience Lifecycle and will make us an employer of choice, enhance staff satisfaction, reduce attrition, and empower staff to contribute to the overall success of the business. This will be focussed on our 5-stage staff management approach: attracting, engaging, developing, retaining and separating.

    Main Responsibilities

    • Provide a framework for workforce and succession planning for all business areas.
    • Provide support and coaching to all teams through the Performance Development Programme periodically and on an ad hoc basis.
    • Promote and maintain a harmonious relationship between union, staff and management, and alert Regional CEO wherever stable employee relations are threatened.
    • Ensure that all Company policies are reviewed regularly (or as appropriate in the face of new or changing legislation and case law) and maintained or amended as appropriate to ensure legal compliance and best HR practice.
    • Maintain employee handbook; make suggestions and amend to ensure that the business units remain compliant and follow best practice.
    • To provide support and assist management with TUPE transfers, both in and out, ensuring compliance with legislation requirements.
    • Provide HR advice and guidance to depots as required.
    • Supervise and help develop the HR Business Partner and Recruitment & Training Manager, and provide advice, guidance and support as necessary.
    • Supported by external legal representatives ensure that Tribunal cases are administered correctly and in a timely manner.
    • Work with third party suppliers to deliver and maintain essential, technical and employment law training to depots and line managers.
    • Provide and maintain up to date job descriptions for all posts.
    • Maintain all contracts of employment in conjunction with external legal representative.

    About You

    • At least 3 years’ HR experience at advisory level.
    • Thorough knowledge and experience of generalist HR issues.
    • Exposure to a wide range of complex employee relations cases including disciplines, grievances, long term sickness, flexible working requirements and bullying and harassment.
    • Working knowledge of employment law and application of that knowledge in a commercial manner.
    • Experience of dealing with tribunal claims.
    • Experience of policy development and implementation.
    • Experience and understanding of TUPE.
