This is a new, impact-oriented role within CDP’s Capital Markets team, providing a platform for financial institutions as they engage with businesses on their sustainability journeys.

    This role is ideally suited to someone with extensive first-hand experience in the financial services industry who is looking to return to work and pivot into sustainable finance. You will collaborate across the global organization, exploring how to engage strategically across the financial system and finance the real economy’s shift to a net-zero, nature-positive economy. Ultimately, your work will prioritize climate and nature-related considerations at the core of business and financial decision-making.

    About the team: This role resides within CDP’s Capital Markets team in our Commercial Department. You will collaborate with colleagues from across the globe across both ad hoc projects as well as one overarching strategic task. As we focus on the future, we seek a dynamic individual to join our team and support CDP’s expansion across global planetary boundaries concerning the financial sector.

    Key responsibilities include:
     Supporting the Global Director in systematising a global signatory engagement approach based upon stakeholder type mapping assessments and existing examples of best practice within the Capital Markets team.

     Coordinating with individuals globally both within Capital Markets as well as beyond, including CDP’s Impact Strategy, Sustainable Finance and Strategic Accounts teams, to develop practical, standardised how-to guides and frameworks aligned to CDP’s ambition and theory of change

     Supporting other ad-hoc strategic projects where desk-based research, pitch-deck creation or market analysis is required The precise description and nature of your job may vary from time to time, and you may be required to carry out other duties as necessary to meet business needs.

    Required skills and experience:
     Minimum 7 years of direct professional experience within the financial services industry, ideally in a sales or engagement related role

     A good understanding of financial systems and corporate sustainability.

     Demonstrable knowledge and awareness of climate change, the role of corporations and financial institutions.

     Detail-oriented and organized thinker.

     Proven ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.

     Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with team members from different technical and cultural backgrounds.

     Excellent and/or advanced experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

     Demonstrable experience in managing projects.

    Desired skills and experience:
     At least 5 years experience in sustainable finance, environment, social and governance (ESG) risk management, and/or investments.

     An understanding of the corporate reporting landscape and investor expectations regarding climate and nature-related issues.

     Experience working in a global, mission-driven organization.

    This is a part time, 3-month voluntary contract based at CDP’s headquarters in Central London, UK; reporting to the Global Director. Flexible working is fully embraced by the organisation and we encourage you to explore this at interview.

    Salary and benefits:
    As this is a short term (3 month) voluntary, part time placement, there is no salary provided for this role, however a capped expense budget is available to cover lunch and commute costs.
