I have been working at Allstate full-time (More than 3 years)
Pros
There is plenty room for job opportunity and so many great incentives such as trips to Disney and trips to home office in Chicago. You work with some great people and they actually listen to their employees voices. Open door policy with management. Great pay. So many programs to get involved with such as volunteering opportunities, resource groups, and they also match donations! One thing I love about this job is that I do not have to take my work home with me. Great benefits! Top ethical company.
Cons
Depending on the department you are in you may have to work weekends and late hours. Like any other job you may have some bad managers who do not appreciate anything. Some people can be very two faced. We hire criminals whom can get their insurance licenses but get denied on apartment applications. Some manager have favorites and let people get away with more than others. Interview process is not really based off work ethic.
Advice to Management
Great company to work for if you work hard enough. I've had great managers and have encountered not so great managers. One manager wanted to work on a project with me but the lost the project and never informed me of it after multiple email communications finally I had to basically corner the manager to see where that project was since I didn't have a laptop and she did to save the information she finally told me it got deleted, now she will not talk to me. My current manager makes our team take on too much and let's a few people to get away with a lot of things and pushes more work on people who are hard working without showing any appreciation. People leave a job because of a manager. Managers need reviewed more often. I personally think that division managers need to meet with employees once a quarter and talk to their employees about what is going on with the teams, work and management since DMs only know what managers tell them. Yes we have barometers that go out once a month but my manager retaliates if she knows who put something negative on it and asks who submitted it when she reads it out to the team which it's supposed to be unanimous. Allstate is going in the right direction with Continuous improvement and will hopefully keep getting better.
