I worked at Arm as an intern (Less than a year)
I worked on the same items as the rest of the full-time employees. In my spare time, I was given the opportunity to work on my own individual project, and working for ARM I was given full access to any boards and parts that I needed to complete my project, and if the office does not have the part needed then they will order it for you (this never was an issue for me). One of the employees in the office would make sure to try and have at least one weekly meeting with me to discuss any problems or issues that may have come up with either work or my individual project.
I was the only intern they hired. The office hired a new graduate full-time this summer, and it was nice to have someone else go through the same training and learning curve as I did. It would also be nice to have another intern in the office, because I believe I would have made more progress on the project I was working on if I had a partner to work on it with.
Advice to Management
I don't really have any. They were all nice and helped me out if I ever needed it. As I stated in the pros section they always made sure to check up with me weekly to discuss my progress on tasks.

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Arm (Plano, TX (US)) in March 2015.
Applied for the job, and a received an email from a recruiter asking if I was interested in working in the Plano office. After that I was scheduled for a phone interview the next week. The phone interview was scheduled to be an hour long, but only lasted 10-15 minutes. After the interview, the recruiter emailed me saying they were interested in a second interview at their office (Their company policy mandates that the interview and hiring process is handled by the recruiter so most of my communication was through the recruiter). The second interview lasted two hours. I was first interviewed by the office manager, and then I was interviewed by one of the application engineers. All of the technical questions were asked by the application engineer. However, the questions were more about my resume and what I had worked and was familiar with more than questions testing my knowledge. A couple of days after the interview I received a phone call from the recruiter telling me they thought the interview went well, and decided to offer me the position!
I think there was an opportunity to negotiate some of the terms of the offer, but I was very happy with the original offer so I accepted it immediately.
