50% discount on food and unlimited drinks when you're working a shift.
Hot working conditions.
Short staffed all the time.
If you're new and part-time, you'll never be working on drinks or on the till.
Unblocking toilets on a daily basis.
Being expected to do 101 things at the same time, by yourself.
Uniform isn't thin enough for the hot working conditions.
Kitchen was absolutely tiny and you were expected to lift a heavy tray of plates etc into the dishwasher and then out again, for a whole shift (8 hours). Ended up doing my back in a couple times.
Only half an hour for lunch when working a 8 hour shift. No break for 6 hours.

I applied in-person. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Costa (Letchworth, England) in June 2015.
Went for one interview which lasted 15 minutes. Asked what shifts I could work. Then said they would put me on a 3 hour trial shift that weekend. I accepted. I was put on till on the trial shift. That was the first and only time I got put on the till.
