    Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at FactSet (Boston, MA (US)) in December 2011.

    Interview

In a word: uninspired. There were some half-baked code examples that purported to test your ability to construct object hierarchies and polymorphic classes and another that tested your ability to find contrived bugs in contrived code. There was the obligatory fizz-buzz assignment, and a "quiz" wherein you had to make a hand-waving, verbal description of how you would design a platform-scrolling video game or a chess simulator.

    Interview Questions

    • Q: "Do you have access to reliable transportation?"   1 Answer
    • Q: "Do you have experience with legacy code bases?"   1 Answer
    • Q: "Can you describe an instance where you took ownership of a problem to solve it?"   1 Answer
