I worked at Illumina full-time (More than 3 years)
Pros
This is the market and technology leader for NGS, so you are talking to the leading scientists about ground-breaking projects and everybody always has time for you and flatters you, 'cause you are the master of the NGS universe! The company throws tons of money at you if you perform well.
Cons
All disadvantages of working for a monopolist when the market starts saturating: customers find you arrogant because you cannot offer any flexibility on anything. Growth rates naturally go down but management has not realised this yet. 'cause there are 100 people who want your job, be careful what you say or do, mistakes will not be forgiven, successes quickly forgotten or talked down.
Advice to Management
Illumina will be going down the Affymetrix alley if you give up the values that made Illumina great a while ago.

Application
I applied online. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at Illumina (Eindhoven (Netherlands)).
Interview
Automated video interview follow by on-site interview.
The talent team in the UK is engaging, inquisitive, friendly, interested, in line with expectations and a very good start of the process.
The on-site interview with a Director was the opposite in all aspects.
