I have been working at Illumina full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I've gotten the opportunity to work with some of the smartest scientists and engineers in the world, and every day is a new chance to both learn something new and to steer Illumina toward an even more successful future.

    Cons

Those same smart people tend to want to reinvent the wheel - leveraging existing technology to speed development is a good thing!

    Advice to Management

Continue to mentor new-in-career scientists toward technical mastery and, for a subset of those people, eventual leadership opportunities.
