I worked at Intrepid Travel full-time (More than a year)
Pros
The product and values of the company are amazing. They do so much to give back to local communities they travel too and there is no glitz or glam at all about the trips. It’s all real and authentic. Lots of genuinely nice people work there too.
Cons
New senior management, in marketing specifically, is awful. Normal level managers are great and have a lot of extra pressure on them all of a sudden such as unfair delegation and extra pointless work. There is a serious lack of experience at director level and they are extremely rude via email and the way they speak to you, they sometimes look at you like you’re stupid. They also get funny if people are off sick/need to take time out of work for medical reasons. Being asked to prove why you’re at the doctors is beyond a joke.
Advice to Management
Change it at senior level before everyone leaves. The normal managers are very good and you’ll lose them if stuff doesn’t change.
Application
I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Intrepid Travel (Brixton, London, England) in November 2016.
Interview
The interview was a very pleasant experience overall - it didn't even feel like an interview at some points because it was so relaxed! I had initially gone in for the vacancy of Adventure Specialist however I did not have all of the sales experience that they were looking for so straight away they mentioned that there was another vacancy primarily customer support based rather than sales based. They asked if I would be interested and I actually liked the sound of the customer support role. I shadowed two very nice girls that showed me what they do in customer support and it seemed very interesting. After sitting down for my interview, they mentioned that I would hear from them in the next couple days however straight away they grabbed the regional director and introduced him to me and they hired me right there! It was probably the most pleasant interview I went to!
