I worked at QinetiQ full-time (More than 3 years)
Mad levels of training if you are lucky and if you land on the right project you will do exceptionally well
Most of the good staff have left when it got privatised and they are effectively left with the 'dregs' who know they wont get a job else where. New staff are often Ex Military many of who are totally useless. There are a lot of moaning ex public sector who are just there for a job rather than to work and can't find a job else where(Why should anyone respect/value employees if they add very little to the company).
Advice to Management
Find better ways to weed out the bad performers, maybe ask who would be interested in Voluntary redundancy and sack everyone who doesn't ask for it. (Probably isn't legal) Why would I leave if I didn't think I would find a job else where, why wouldn't I if I could and get paid for it?
