Technical Account Manager

Being a woman in tech, I only recently started advocating for myself at work about advancement opportunities. Because of this I wanted to ask this question to my male counterparts. When you have 1:1's with your direct reports and talk about career growth / aspirations what is your managers’ response typically? I’d like to gauge how my experience (negative) differs from others. For instance are you met with blockades, enthusiasm, dread, etc?

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at 1E (London, England) in Nov 2021

    Listed as 4 stage interviews.

    Hiring Manager
    Technical/Peer review
    Final Interview with Director(s)

I was brought forward to a hiring manager interview after a curious call with the talent person who felt it was normal to curse in the screening call in a nonchalant way.

The hiring manager was impressed enough to say that they would certainly bring me forward to the next round. 2 weeks go by and nothing from the company. Once following up I was told that the hiring manager declined to bring me forward to any further rounds, I was nowhere near qualified, not a cultural fit and I was rejected from the process.

It would be prudent for a company to allow a candidate to be notified when such a decision is made, considering that they have done a hiring manager round of 60 mins.

Why do you want to work here? What do you know about us? Who are our competitors? Describe a day in the life for you and now compare that to a day in the life you envisage with 1e and describe it.
