AXA UK – Why Work For Us?

We work hard to be a great place to work. To be a company that people enjoy and are proud to work for. When you join us here at AXA, you’ll be part of a leading global company that’s transforming financial services. Right across the world, we’re redefining standards to better care and protect people by creating innovative products and better quality service. We also better care about our own people and the communities we work in. And that’s why our working culture is open and supportive, challenging and empowering. We recognise and reward individual excellence and we’ll do everything we can, and give you all the tools you need, to do your job brilliantly.

So we're encouraging. We're trusting and we recognise achievement. We're collaborative too, but we also believe in accountability and responsibility. We inspire each other to explore new and better ways of delivering on our promises. But more than anything, we work together as a team to generate a competitive advantage and deliver long-term success – for our customers, for our business and, of course, for you.

Change is constant here; it’s part of our way of life. It’s vital that we’re able to respond to the world around us and adapt to new circumstances. That said, some things will never change: our values. Our values shape what we do and how we do it. Treating our customers fairly is at the heart of everything we do. Only by challenging ourselves to be better will we continue to lead the way. There’s so much more to tell you. Like our investment in your training and development. The opportunities you’ll enjoy as a result of our global reach. Our commitment to developing leaders from within. Even the freedom you’ll have to improve lives locally through community programmes like Hearts in Action. You’ll read about these attractions elsewhere on this site. But for now if you share the values that make our culture and our company special, we’ll give you everything you need to reach your full potential.

Our values are active principles that underpin everything we stand for. Our Group CEO, AXA UK, Paul Evans, is passionate about teams that work together; focusing on the little things that we know can make a big difference to our customers. When you come to work with AXA, we promise that we'll:

  • encourage and support you to grow personally and professionally.
  • value you for speaking up and being honest.
  • celebrate great team players and recognise team achievements.
  • give you the tools and freedom to give your customers the best possible experience of AXA.

Essentially our values come down to one simple sentence: we do what we say we’ll do, when we say we’ll do it.

Our people live and breathe these values. You’ll see them in how they work with customers, how they work with each other. And, we believe, it’s our values and the way that they’re brought to life by our people that has helped us achieve the Sunday Times top 25 Best Big Companies to work for the fourth year in a row.

Our products and services services give support, reassurance and security to our customers. But Corporate Responsibility (CR) also means working to reduce our environmental impact, supporting local communities and working with stakeholders. It plays an important part in helping us achieve our vision and ensures that, as a business, we contribute to society.

At the very heart of our CR strategy is the AXA Group flagship of research and education to reduce risk. That’s why, in 2008, we established the AXA Research Fund to support scientific research that would contribute to understanding and preventing environmental, life and socio-economic risks. Since its creation, the Fund has committed €76 million globally to 308 projects. We have recently committed a further €100 million to be invested between 2013 and 2018. In the UK alone, we’re supporting over 60 projects.

The AXA UK Corporate Responsibility strategy is organised around four pillars: marketplace, workplace, community and environment

We'll encourage and support you at every stage of your career with us. But where could this take you? We’re proud that many of our senior leaders across our UK businesses often joined us in entry level roles, and have grown their careers across our group. We actively encourage internal mobility, and can offer real opportunity for you to develop your career across any of our business, across the globe

Internal IT system issues can be frustrating.

Can sometimes feel slow paced compared to our competitors when launching new initiatives and offerings. I think it gives impression we are on the back foot of other insurers.

    Advice to Management

Continue to listen to employees on the 'front line' who do the job - they know the customer best.

I have experienced fantastic line management, giving me the opportunity to grow professionally and reach both my personal and career goals.

Remain competitive in the market to attract new people and retain our employees . They make AXA succeed.

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at AXA UK (London, England) in March 2016.

Very impressive assessment process. Professional yet friendly. Resourcing team members were so helpful throughout. Assessment day was intense but fun! Presentation, role play and interview in a very well organised format that didn't intimidate.

    Interview Questions

    • Competency based questions - focused on their values and leadership dimensions that were provided in the interview pack.   Answer Question

Professional offer, but I didn't negotiate and wish I had.
