Some processes are a little convoluted (sales cycle, HR, etc.), most likely due to the fact Aerohive are a growing company.
Advice to Management
Keep on doing what you're doing
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Aerohive Networks (London, England) in August 2008.
Contacted by agency then had an initial phone chat with the technical director very friendly then a phone interview a bit technical but not too bad.
then had 1:1 meeting with the technical director who was extremely knowledgable and very friendly and down to earth chatted about the company what his expectations were and what benefits could I bring to the company
week later had another 1:1 with one of the VP'sand then a technical interview by phone with one of the support engineeers in san Jose and finally another final meeting with the technical manager.
My suggestions would be to be honest and open be prepared technically and make sure you have a solid foundation knowledge not just read up on the product
