Agilisys – Why Work For Us?

Who are we

Agilisys, an employee owned organisation, is one of the UK’s fastest growing and innovative cloud and digital transformation specialists, enabling organisations to adopt technologies, platforms and processes that promote new ways of working.

An established partner for both the public and private sector for nearly two decades, we have earned a strong reputation and hold deep domain expertise delivering change and innovation, particularly within the local and central government. We support our customers through a network of offices and centres of excellence throughout the UK, employing over 1,500 employees across the UK.

Mission: Since 1998 we have been helping forward-thinking organisations to transform services that make a difference to millions of people across the UK.

Opportunity and engagement

Agilisys is one of the largest employee owned organisations in the UK, having made the innovative transition to become an employee owned business in April 2015. Our unique status allows our employees to have greater engagement and ownership in the future growth and success of Agilisys.

The decision to adopt an alternative ownership structure created a means of preserving Agilisys’ employee-focused ethos and ensured the future of the company remained firmly in the hands of those people who shared the same values and visions of its co-founders.

The trust holds the majority shareholding in the company on behalf of all employees and exists to secure the continuation of Agilisys as a successful, independent and professionally managed business for the benefit of its employees, who are the majority owners.

The government has fully endorsed employee owned business models based on research that shows better outcomes as related to business performance, greater employee commitment and engagement and improved innovation.

Being majority employee owned gives us a unique strength.  As seen with other employee-owned firms like John Lewis, it fosters a distinctive long-term approach and a focus on quality and building trust.

A balanced approach

At Agilisys, we are passionate about diversity. We are proud to be an equal opportunities employer and we want our workforce to reflect and incorporate the talents of the diverse communities in which we provide services.

Agilisys Women Empowerment

The Agilisys Women Empowerment Steering Committee sets out to leverage the talent we have at Agilisys by ensuring that we have an environment within our organisation that encourages everyone to excel. The committee exists to look at ways in which we can actively encourage more women into tech fields – and by tech we don’t just mean IT – it covers all the areas we work in across Agilisys.

We are interested in the gender pay gap, and in making sure we have HR policies that work for us all in a forward-thinking business, creating mentoring opportunities to help our employees grow and develop – and so much more.

Our Gender Pay Gap Report

If you’d like to know more about the subject of gender pay at Agilisys, this report has been produced to comply with the Equality Act 2010 (Gender Pay Gap Information) Regulations 2017.

What we're doing to close our gender pay gap

It is important to Agilisys that men and women are paid equally for doing equivalent jobs. We continue to invest in initiatives taking action to encourage gender equality across our organisation.

Recruitment

We are working to recognise and remove unconscious bias when it comes to hiring great female talent.

Development

With the help of the AWE we are creating a network of mentors and coaches to support our employees at Agilisys.

Progression

We are working to identify a pipeline of great female talent for leadership positions, showing us the potential leaders of the future.

Retention

Our Employee Reps are making changes to our policies to support an improved gender pay gap- including, most recently, an improved family leave policy.

Career progression

Building a long-term career

At Agilisys, we recognise the importance of providing clear opportunities for career development and progression, both for employees and for the business as a whole.

To enable this, we have a clear employment value proposition comprising four core elements:

  • Culture & structure
The scale of Agilisys, the way we are organised, and the way we go about things make us unique. Our employee owners have a say, have representation, and have a stake in the success of our business.
  • Growth & opportunity
The pace of growth and change in our business means learning, development and career growth are part of business as usual for Agilisys.
  • Reward & satisfaction
Agilisys strives to reward performance but additionally offers employees the chance to engage in meaningful work that improves the experience we all have as citizens.
  • Performance Management Framework
We have a structured Performance Management Framework, which ensures all employees have an opportunity to give and receive feedback on their work to date; review and set objectives; identify learning and development needs; and assess their skills against the requirements of their role.

The Framework is flexible enough to meet individual needs: Agilisys has grown out of an entrepreneurial culture, and we encourage our employees to develop and progress into new and challenging roles, often of their own creation, designed to fit their skills and our clients’ needs.

Learning, developing & excelling

All of our employee owners are empowered and encouraged to actively engage with the business through our employee ownership trust status. But our commitment doesn't stop there.

We know that the provision of high quality learning and development is integral to engaging employees, supporting them in the development of a long-term careers, and delivering the best possible level of service to our clients.

Our dynamic environment gives our people a great opportunity to accelerate their learning, tackle new challenges, and take on new responsibilities while being fostered by a collaborative working approach.

We share the concept of 'One Agilisys' with all our employees: a common mission, vision and set of behaviours promoting cross-organisational relationships that foster learning and growth.

Individual development

Individuals are supported in their understanding and ability in four critical areas: customer satisfaction, financial capability, business growth and managing people. Each year business unit, team and individual objectives are aligned to each core area, and a full learning and development programme is provided to support their achievement. Programme design varies from individual e-learning, through structured courses, to employee-led action learning forums and project teams.

Broader learning opportunities

The learning and development calendar continues to evolve through the year as specific needs and requests arise, addressing a range of issues including industry specific skills, broad sector and customer knowledge and generic management and leadership capability. We specifically ensure that the Agilisys culture and values are understood and reflected in our all programmes, setting out how our values, Passion, Innovation and Integrity, are translated into key behaviours and disciplines and providing the opportunity to practice and receive feedback in a safe environment.

Sharing success

In addition to the career development our programmes offer to our employees, we are also delighted to see the Agilisys clients also benefit, not just through the quality of service supported by this approach, but also by our ability and willingness to deliver many of our these programmes directly to their employees.
