  • Last week we welcomed four new members to the retail management team, into roles in Newcastle, Manchester and London. We welcomed Alisha, Jordan, Odette and Monika. We kick off our first day of onbranding with an introduction to product and to wardrobe. What could be more fun than taking advantage of our market leading wardrobe allowance on your first day!?

    We are already reviewing our onbranding proposition and SLA discussing how we could further elevate our brand experience offering to our new management starters. Onbranding is only three months old but it's already time to review and evolve.

  • Retail Talent welcomed three new managers into the business. We introduced Nathan, Siobhan and Michele to AllSaints studios in East London.

    Nathan brings to brand a touch of luxury experience having most recently worked for Fendi having completed the management program in Harrods. Siobhan and Michele are both internal success stories, Siobhan having made the transition from floor manager in our Nottingham store into floor manager of our flagship store on Regent Street and Michele taking his first steps into management as a floor manager in our Westbourne Grove store.

    It was a terrific week, introducing the team to the behaviours behind our operating and cultural processes.

    Pros

    Amazing career progression opportunities provide themselves if you are prepared to work hard, great fast paced and friendly environment, wardrobe allowance and annual leave allowances are good, brilliant clothes to work with and enjoy daily

    Cons

    Holiday calendar has large red zones where holiday may not be taken during both Summer and Christmas peak period. Hard to get all staffs holiday allocated in the allowed dates without leaving your cover really short at some points of year

    Advice to Management

    Shorten the Christmas red zone period to 6 weeks.

    Application

    I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at AllSaints Retail (London, England) in June 2015.

    Interview

    Was given a call by their recruitment consultant. Basic questions like why All Saints, what experience do you have etc.
    Was then asked to attend a group interview at their Flagship store and head office near Spitalfields. The interview was to start at 8 am and last for 4 hours!!!
    On the day of the interview there was about 15 of us. We were taken inside the store where we briefly introduced ourselves and we were given a brief overview of the brand and role.
    We were then split into small groups and asked to dress a mannequin and explain who the customer was. Then present back to the rest of the group.
    The second task was merchandise an area of the shop floor still in small groups. We were given rails of product to choose from. Then present back.
    Throughout the tasks All Saints Vm team were walking around watching what you were doing and saying.
    I felt the tasks were really vague so you were not sure what they were looking for and then the rest of the group were free to criticize what your group had done.
    Working as a group was really hard as everyone's trying to impress and you always get the extrovert who has to keep talking over everyone.
    You have to make sure you speak up. After this they said we could leave so it was only 2 hours.
    They take your photo and name as you leave.
    I heard back about a week and a half later to say I'd been unsuccessful. I replied to get some feedback but they never got back to me.
    It was surprising they made their desicions based on that one day without a formal sit down interview. Think about your outfit on the day/ speak up/ be aware they are watching you constantly.
