    Application

I applied online. The process took 4+ weeks. I interviewed at Aston University (Birmingham, England) in December 2019.

    Interview

Being the last interview of the day is always difficult, but when the panel clearly look like they can't be bothered by this point and just want to get it over with it really shows. I was advised that I'd have a projector for my presentation, however they said they couldn't be bothered with it and therefore I'd only have a laptop, this was quite nerve-wracking as it wasn't what I expected and meant I couldn't see most of what I was trying to say.

I was very surprised at the lack of empathy or interview knowledge from senior managers who invited the outgoing team member to join the interview panel, this is possibly the worst thing you can do and really put me off joining them or the University.

Thankfully I was not offered the role, my presumption is that they don't offer interview expenses as they aren't bothered who they get to fill the role.
