I have been working at BMJ full-time (More than 5 years)

BMJ is really a very good place to work - the employment terms and package are excellent and the atmosphere is friendly and positive. So much so that people rarely want to leave and due to the size of the organisation progression can be difficult. But you are given the opportunity to learn and develop skills that you can take outside - so although it may not offer the ideal career opportunities for all, it certainly offers a springboard. People should not be afraid to venture forth - you can always come back! The company lives and believes in the company values and that is seen everyday in the decisions taken and the way that work is tacked.

The politics within the parent company (BMA) are tiresome and unproductive - it's a drain on everyone's time and resource and the BMA really need to sort themselves out - maybe they should take some advice from the BMJ senior team who seem to have totally transformed life here in the last few years ?

    Advice to Management

The past two years results have been amazing - not sure if we expect the same stella results year on year - but hopefully the upward trend can be maintained and don't be downhearted if things slow up - it's all still a good news story!

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at BMJ (London, England) in October 2016.

There was a first selection of candidates based on CV and cover letter. Then a test was sent by email to all shortlisted candidates to assess organisational and editorial skills/experience. After the test I was invited to a panel interview with the Editor in Chief and Publisher of the journal.
