Opportunities to work on challenging projects. To develop exciting new technologies. To work alongside the most innovative minds in the industry.
Whichever role you join us as, you can be sure that the work you do will have a real, lasting impact on the world around us.
Our work changes all the time – and it’s our people who change it; with engineering firsts, scientific breakthroughs and new ways to do business. It’s an exciting and challenging place to learn, and on one of our graduate programmes or paid internships, you can be part of our global success.
You could find yourself on our fast-paced trading floor or developing hands-on skills and technical knowledge on our upstream and downstream programmes. Equally, you could be developing your talents in a range of business roles. Wherever you join, you’ll work with expert teams who will respect your abilities, and you’ll make a genuine impact as you get the training you need to build a successful career.
From internships to insight days, no matter what year of study or where you are in the world, we offer different opportunities for you to explore BP. Choosing a career path and a company to work for after university is a big decision. It can shape much more than your career – it can define where you live, what you learn and the friends you make. We want to make sure you make the right choice for you.
In many of our locations, we offer the chance to experience life at BP before you decide if we’re the right place for you. And, due to the programmes we offer, you don’t have to wait until your final year to experience our world.
Depending on where you are, there may be day, week, summer or year-long experiences on offer.
By joining one of our programmes, you’ll enjoy responsibility from day one and the freedom to choose your own path. Enhancing your knowledge, stretching your skills and gaining real-world experience alongside some of the brightest minds in the industry.
Safety is good business. Everything we do relies upon the safety of our workforce and the communities around us. We care about the safe management of the environment. We are committed to safely delivering energy to the world.
We respect the world in which we operate. It begins with compliance with laws and regulations. We hold ourselves to the highest ethical standards and behave in ways that earn the trust of others. We depend on the relationships we have and respect each other and those we work with. We value diversity of people and thought. We care about the consequences of our decisions, large and small, on those around us.
We are in a hazardous business, and are committed to excellence through the systematic and disciplined management of our operations. We follow and uphold the rules and standards we set for our company. We commit to quality outcomes, have a thirst to learn, and to improve. If something is not right, we correct it.
What we do is rarely easy. Achieving the best outcomes often requires the courage to face difficulty, to speak up and stand by what we believe. We always strive to do the right thing. We explore new ways of thinking and are unafraid to ask for help. We are honest with ourselves, and actively seek feedback from others. We aim for an enduring legacy, despite the short term priorities of our world.
Whatever the strength of the individual, we will accomplish more together. We put the team ahead of our personal success and commit to building its capability. We trust each other to deliver on our respective obligations.
Our goal is to create an environment of inclusion and acceptance. For our employees to be motivated and perform to their full potential, and for the business to excel, our people need to be treated with respect and dignity and without discrimination.
BP encourages and supports a number of business resource groups (BRGs). BRGs are employee-networks, set up by employees for employees. The groups come together voluntarily with the goal of enhancing the success of BP's D&I objectives by helping to foster, develop and retain diverse talent in BP. We currently have BRGs around race, gender, sexual orientation, working parents, veterans and disabilities, providing opportunities for informal development and networking.
Some of the current BRGs include:
In order to remain competitive in this constantly evolving global marketplace, we need effective leaders to keep us one step ahead. Our Future Leaders Programme (FLP) is a four-year global rotation scheme. It takes talented individuals from a diverse range of professional backgrounds and gives them the skills they need to drive our Downstream business forward.
We’ll help you make the most of your potential and share your ideas – all the while shaping and building your own long-term career with us. And we’ll tailor the programme to best suit your ambitions. What’s more, you’ll be part of a close, supportive Future Leaders Programme community with plenty of networking opportunities across our Downstream business.
You could be helping to build and leverage brand relationships within marketing, retail or sales. Or perhaps you could provide strategic support in one of our procurement and supply chain, finance or strategy roles where you help drive the change necessary to move the business forward.
As a participant in this stream of the Future Leaders Programme, you could join any of our global operations sites to develop both your technical and leadership capabilities.
We’re using technology to improve the efficiency of processes in our refineries and petrochemical plants. You could join one of our many leading development areas, including formulated products technology, refining and logistics technology, petrochemicals technology or conversion technology.
Wherever you’re working, you’ll work in challenging roles that will develop your skills and prepare you for success.

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at BP (London, England) in May 2018.
The interview process was okay I applied and got the offer for an interview the next day. the process was average just a 1:1 interview, I didn't prepare at all before because I had exams but I thought it went ok for me
