    I applied online. I interviewed at Barnardo's (Leeds, England) in May 2017.

    Interview

    The interview lasted about 30 minutes and was fairly informal, with an interview panel of three people including the Service Manager, Team Leader and Assistant Finance Manager.

    There was also a 30 minute test on finance administration.

    • Tell us about your skills and experience, and how these can be transferred into the role of Service Administrator?   Answer Question
    • Tell us about your I.T. skills, systems or packages that you've used in previous roles, and would you feel confident about using them in this role?   Answer Question
    • The Service Administrator role is a very varied one, with lots of changing demands on your time. Can you give examples of how you have previously had to cope with a highly demanding portfolio of work, and what strategies you've used to deal with this?   Answer Question
    • Significant responsibility within this role is given to carrying out finance tasks for the service. This involves petty cash, reconciliations, budget monitoring and recording grants and invoicing. Another important aspect will be to process referrals, manage a service activity spreadsheet and transfer information between systems. You will be expected to collate these statistics to support the Service Manager in compiling quarterly reports, what relevant skills can you bring to this?   Answer Question
    • Tell us about your experience in using MS Excel formulas, and any other finance related databases or information systems?   Answer Question
    • Our team ranges from Volunteer to Assistant Director level, and the administrative team also receive regular regional and national bulletins.Can you give us some example and techniques you use to prioritise tasks in order to meet deadlines?   Answer Question
    • You will be responsible for managing the telephones, meeting and greeting external stakeholders and members of the public. What would be your primary considerations when interacting with people?   Answer Question
    • Can you give an example of when you've had to deal with a difficult situation, on the phone or in person? This could be due to the person being distressed, angry or responding to something in the media.   Answer Question
