Image Optimisation | bet365 Tech Blog

Imagine the difference a fast page load makes to someone's first impression of an application. If a user is sat watching a spinner waiting for an application to load it makes for a very poor experience. It's a potential outcome that makes us all at bet365 very unhappy indeed.

Bet365 – Why Work For Us?

undefined

Founded in 2000 in North Staffordshire, we are the world's largest online sports betting company with over 18 million customers worldwide. We employ more than 3,000 people and are one of the largest private companies in the UK.

Through the vision and determination of bet365's founder, Denise Coates CBE, the business has grown and evolved rapidly, focusing on the following key areas.

undefinedInnovation continues to be the lifeblood of our business. Our team of developers work in-house to provide the technological advances that enable us to keep ahead of the competition.

For instance, bet365 led the way in TV advertising by being the first UK company to display live prices during half-time breaks. We provide a market leading In-Play product, offering more markets on more sports than anyone else, ranging from Soccer and Tennis to Beach Volleyball.

Above all, we believe that giving our staff the freedom to innovate is key to our success.

undefinedFrom a marketing perspective, bet365 is an instantly recognisable and trusted brand, both in the UK and across the rest of the world.

In addition to our cutting-edge half-time adverts, we have also invested heavily in promoting our Bingo and Casino products.

undefinedAnother aspect of our continued success is the focus on our customers.

We pride ourselves on providing first class customer service wherever they are in the world. We employ an excellent Customer Service team to assist in all of the 18 languages that we offer.

undefinedIn the eGaming Review's Annual Power 50 for 2016, bet365 secured top spot for the seventh year running.

At the 2016 eGaming Review Awards, bet365 won In-Play Sports Operator of the Year and Sports Betting Operator of the Year for the fifth time in six years.

I have been working at Bet365 full-time (More than 10 years)

    - Good working relationships with other teams
    - Approachable staff
    - Management which will always listen to your problems, an open door policy even if they cant always resolve you will be listened to.

The company has gone Strength to Strength over the years and is always improving its working conditions for staff, couldn't imagine working at any other place at this moment in time.

    Cons

    - You need to be here for 8am to get a Parking Space if you start at 9am (Although the company doesn't have to provide parking)
    - Inadequate amount of toilets for the number of staff in Stoke office.
    - Feels like the teams have enough staff to make the teams the best they can be.
    - Bonus figures are provided in 1-2-1 meetings without being prior discussed with staff.
    - Lack of PDP for Staff
    - Lack of Training & Courses

    Advice to Management

    - Keep your staff well informed at all times dont stay in the secret squirrel society
    - Take an Interest in what the teams are actually doing or currently working on
    - When concerns are brought to the table take them on board, dont say "I will get back to you" and then never do.
    - Do not set unrealistic targets for your teams without properly discussing potential problems with the actual team undertaking the work.

    Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Bet365 (Stoke-on-Trent, England) in January 2018.

    Interview

First a telephone interview with HR (40 minutes), he asked me about me and my experience. The very next day I got an invitation for an onsite interview in Stoke-On-Trent. The interview was really relaxed and smooth (average interview with lots of "Tell me about a time..."). After the interview, I had to do a translation test (30 minutes).
