CIL is a leading management consultancy serving growth clients in international markets. We provide evidence-based advice that helps our clients turn insight into action. We are rigorous in our approach, confident in our conclusions and expert at what we do.

CIL Management Consultants – Why Work With Us?

Founded in 1986, CIL is an independent management consultancy. We provide evidence-based advice to assist our clients to grow their business, manage risk and make better investment decisions. We do this by:

Leveraging deep sector knowledge

In the last decade we have worked on over 1000 different projects across multiple sectors and geographies.

Conducting rigorous research and analysis

We are not prescriptive in our methodology but tailor our approach to each client. We look beyond the market data. Typical projects involve extensive primary research, detailed competitor assessment and evaluation of business performance.

Deploying strong teams

We employ experienced, bright, hardworking people who enjoy working as a dynamic team.

Working closely with all stakeholders

We don’t work in a silo. We partner with our clients and other project stakeholders to ensure the best outcome.

Graduates

Graduates join CIL as analysts, the first stage in any management consultant’s career. CIL analysts are an integral part of our project teams and will be expected to collect and interrogate primary and secondary research, refine hypotheses with the rest of the team, and draft output for inclusion in the final report.

Analysts attend meetings and help present findings to clients – we believe that early client exposure is essential to career development. Analysts also play a vital role in the recruitment process, mentoring interview attendees and new graduate intakes.

Senior analysts will often take ownership of entire workstreams or even smaller projects. They will increasingly have responsibility for guiding more junior members of the team.

At CIL, the fast pace of growth presents unrivalled opportunities for early responsibility and client exposure. Our two graduate intakes take place each year in April and September. We also offer a summer internship for penultimate year students, which runs for eight weeks from the start of July.

What it’s like to work at CIL

We are committed to being the best consultancy to work for by providing all of our employees with a supportive environment and world-class business education. We think a ‘culture’ is something larger firms have to invent. Ours is the product of the individuals we employ.

We are hard-working, down-to-earth and direct. Teams are small and tight-knit, agile and collaborative. Projects are typically quite short, meaning employees have the opportunity to work with lots of different people across the company and on a wide variety of projects.

Consulting can be a challenging industry, but we believe our consultants thrive while maintaining a healthy work-life balance. We strive to make the work sustainable and create an environment which all employees can enjoy. Many of our senior staff joined as analysts and have stayed at CIL through most of their career – this is unique in the consulting industry.

We are committed to building an open and diverse workforce where individuals from all backgrounds can thrive. We also have a strong focus on social impact and sustainability.”

Experienced

Whether you are looking to join us from another leading consultancy, graduating from business school, or transitioning from industry, we can offer you interesting engagements, rapid progression and impressive development opportunities.

Where you join will depend on your experience and will be considered during the recruitment process. Partners and directors typically lead projects, while consultants manage the day-to-day operations. Analysts get early responsibility within the teams, working with consultants to generate and analyse primary and secondary research, and create client-ready reports.

Career progression at CIL is based on individual achievement and can be rapid. Most of the senior team at CIL started as either analysts or consultants, and we actively mentor our staff towards promotion through frequent, structured and detailed feedback.

“We are committed to recruiting talent from across the full spectrum of background and identity, and then supporting that talent to flourish at CIL and beyond.”

At CIL we are passionate about building a successful team of people from a wide range of personal and professional backgrounds. Helping our clients grow requires creative thinking and fresh perspectives and, to deliver this, we need a diverse workforce of exceptional individuals.

Graduates

Candidates submit their CV / resume and covering letter through our online portal found on our website here.

Successful candidates are then invited to complete a series of online assessments testing a mixture of numeracy, logic, commercial awareness and written skills. Following success in these stages, we run three rounds of interviews.

Analyst applicants (both intern and graduate) who reach the interview stage are allocated a CIL mentor – a recent new joiner who will be on hand throughout the application process for non-prejudicial support and guidance.

Experienced

We are always on the look-out for managerial-level candidates from relevant organisations (particularly those in accounting, consulting, corporate finance or corporate backgrounds), with experience of carrying out qualitative and quantitative analysis, managing others and interacting with clients.

Applicants who meet our criteria for experienced hires are invited for an initial coffee with a manager – the purpose of this meeting is primarily to gauge how your experience overlaps with our work and for you to learn more about us. If there’s a good fit, then the second interview is a case study, followed by a final round presentation to some of our senior team.

Candidates must submit their CV or resume and covering letter to careers@cilconsultants.com.
