Pros

Very kind fellow engineers, HR and management. Great starting salary. All engineers seem to really enjoy their job.

Cons

"Training" is actually watching videos or presentations which you just have to nod to every 2 minutes pretending you know what they're talking about. Needs more hands on training.

Advice to Management

Nothing really, they're all pretty great and pleasant to work with.

  1. Product Designer Interview

    Application

I applied through an employee referral I interviewed at Citrix (Raleigh, NC)

    Interview

The entire process took 3 months (5 if you consider they ghosted me at the end). I had 4 separate interviews (not including the initial 2 phone interviews). The interviews were a bit redundant with me showing my body of work but to a different audience each time and the audience asking me questions. This was fine and the team seemed nice and like a good group to work with. The same manager was in every single one, so I tried to add something different in each one to keep their interest and give more insight into my work and process. The 4th interview had a lead from the research team that was borderline abrasive and seemed annoyed that I was even there. This was odd as I believe I was 1 of 3 candidates left. Plus it's an interview. Be friendly. If you don't like my work or thinking (an odd thing to be angry about), you'll never have to see me again after this.
That interview ended and I never heard from anyone again. I emailed every other week for 6 weeks to get the status. After no response for 6 weeks, I finally received a one-line response simply saying I was "no longer being considered for the role".
As a candidate that made it to the end, this was a pretty bizarre way to leave things. Since then, I've seen that role open up numerous times, but I'd never go through that again.
I can't get back the time I wasted

Basic walk us through a project and your contribution. Have you ever had a negative interaction with a colleague... How did you navigate it? Most challenging project. Most rewarding.
