I have been working at Derbyshire Constabulary full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

A very supportive organization with a family feel to it. Leadership are open to staff views and are encouraging a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

    Cons

Obvious public sector restrictions e.g. no performance related pay, share schemes, pay rises restricted by austerity - however this is balanced by slightly better job security, generous leave entitlement, flexi-time, good pension, a strong focus on employee well-being and on the whole working with some great people.

    Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Derbyshire Constabulary (Ripley, East Midlands, England) in October 2016.

    Interview

I was asked to deliver a 10 minute presentation. The presentation topic was provided on the day and I had 30 minutes to prepare. After delivering the presentation to a panel of two there was a Q&A session followed by a structured competency based interview.

    Interview Questions

    • The questions were based on a national competency framework detailed in the job description. They were typical competency type questions. e.g. Tell me about a time you've identified an innovative solution to a problem in the workplace.   Answer Question
