Diageo is a global leader in beverage alcohol with iconic brands in spirits, beer and wine. We provide consumers with choice and quality across categories and price points.
Diageo has built a strong platform for growth through investing in our brands and route to consumer. Over the last five years we have made acquisitions in brands and local distribution while doubling the size of our luxury business. We have also made changes to our operating model and culture aligning Diageo behind the need for greater agility and responsiveness, creating a business that is closer to the consumer.
Our 21 market model has established strong local business units, well positioned to win in increasingly competitive and fast paced operating environments.
We know that we must earn the trust and respect of everyone that comes into contact with our company. We must be transparent and authentic, demonstrating good citizenship every day, everywhere.
We produce our brands from more than 200 sites in over 30 countries. We are committed to efficient, sustainable production to the highest quality standards. Our export-led International Supply Centre (ISC) employs over 4,000 people across more than 55 sites in Scotland, England, Ireland, Italy and the Netherlands.
We invest in world-class marketing to build our brands, focusing on connecting with existing and new consumers. For decades our brands have been at the forefront of marketing innovation and the same remains true today. We take seriously our obligations to market responsibly and help consumers make informed decisions.
Innovation is critical to our continued growth. We are committed to finding breakthrough innovations to serve customers and consumers. We identify emerging trends, and boldly innovate at scale. Innovation is a permanent engine of growth for our business and we are restless in our search for new products.
Everyone at Diageo sells or understands how they can help sell. This is just one expression of the sales-led organisation we are building. In each of our 21 markets, we are passionate about ensuring our products are available where consumers want them. We work to deliver amazing consumer experiences and to extend our sales reach.
Our success as a business depends on the success of our people. So we make sure that we create an environment where all our employees feel included and able to perform at their best.
We have a culture where success is celebrated, no matter how big or small. We trust each other and value openess and honesty in our working relationships. As an example, look at our performance management process, Partners for Growth. This programme provides opportunities for everyone in Diageo to share their broader goals in life and supports them in exploring and harnessing their unique strengths at work.
More generally we recognise that our employees have commitments away from the workplace and encourage working patterns that balance home life and career. We also aim to attract and maintain a diverse employee base with a wide variety of individual characteristics, perspectives and experiences in every part of our business.
These are the Values we live and work by. There are five of them, and they’re at the heart of our business:
curiosity and consumer insights drive our growth. We cherish our brands; we are creative and courageous in pursuing their full potential. We are innovative, constantly searching for new ideas.
we seek and benefit from diverse people and perspectives. We strive to create mutually fulfilling relationships and partnerships.
we trust each other, we are open and seek challenge, and we respond quickly to the opportunities this creates.
and how we do it – we behave responsibly with the highest standards of integrity.
we are always learning, always improving. We set high standards, we stretch to exceed them and we celebrate success.
Every year we conduct an employee Values Survey, which gives us valuable information on the ways and degrees in which our Values are being demonstrated individually and across the company.
People celebrate with our brands – and by doing so become a link in a chain that connects rivers and fields, vineyards, distilleries and breweries, transport networks, the hospitality industry, and the people who work and live around us.
Our Sustainability & Responsibility (S&R) Strategy encompasses the actions Diageo takes each day, and every day, to support every link in this chain. We call this celebrating life, today and tomorrow. Putting the principles of sustainability and responsibility into practice means accounting for our most material social and environmental impacts in every aspect of what we do - from sourcing raw materials, to running our manufacturing safely and efficiently, to influencing how our brands are sold and consumed.
Diageo's Performance Ambition is to create the best performing, most trusted and respected consumer products company in the world. Our distilleries, breweries and wineries are at the very heart of the communities in which we work, and we have a responsibility to create shared value – for our shareholders, our people who work so hard to make our business successful, and for the wider society that enables our business to flourish and grow. To fulfil our ambition we know that we must earn the trust and respect of everyone that comes into contact with our company. We must be transparent and authentic, demonstrating good citizenship every day, everywhere. We only earn trust and respect through our actions, and we work hard to ensure that Diageo delivers on its promises.
There are six main priorities that make up our Sustainability & Responsibility Strategy:
We have targets in some of these areas, and report against progress in our Annual Report. Our 2020 targets
With our current targets expiring in 2015, and in anticipation of the 2015 UN Climate Change Conference and other external factors, we evaluated the strengths and weaknesses of our strategy in light of our track record of performance and the work we have done over the last few years in understanding the expectations and concerns of our stakeholders.
As a result, in December 2014, we launched ambitious targets for 2020 for our most material issues, which build on our achievements to date, and are aligned with the emerging UN Sustainable Development Goals.
At Diageo we want to see our people learn and grow. It's a key element of the way in which we keep our global team excited, stimulated and engaged. We're always looking at new ways to release the potential of our people. These are just some of them:
Partners for Growth (P4G) is about encouraging great performance through regular conversations. Essentially, it's a two-way performance dialogue – one that requires leaders in Diageo to know their people, to keep them focused on strategic priorities and to value them as individuals. Through a combination of performance commitments, career conversations and an individual growth plan, you will develop both personally and professionally, with corresponding benefits for the business.
The Diageo Academy is the home for our global learning and development resources, giving you access to the very best Diageo has to offer. From classroom training events and e-learning courses to self-development materials and virtual classes, the Academy offers both functional and leadership development to enable you to pursue a truly modern career.
With a range of programmes, ranging from People Manager Development and Breakthrough Performance Coaching to the Change and Project Management Framework and courses on Influencing, Facilitating and Presentations, there's something for you at every stage of your career. If you are a People Manager, you can even access your own 'My Team' area, which gives you the opportunity to view your team's training and development and book them places on training events online.
Our programme is a three year adventure during which you'll find yourself challenged and inspired to reach your full potential. You'll be introduced to many of our Diageo leaders in different countries so you can see the differences - and the similarities - in how we operate around the world.
You'll also enjoy the backing and support of a mentor and buddy who will give you an introduction to Diageo's culture and help you successfully navigate your career.
Working for a company of our size brings with it an enormous diversity of people and opportunities. We'll introduce you to global networks so you can experience different cultures and make new friends and professional connections. Plus, if you want it, there may even be an opportunity to live and work abroad so you can experience first-hand what it's like to live and work in another country.
We encourage you to apply where your true passion is. But whichever area you join us in you’ll find we employ the same approach to your development, providing you with two to three rotations within your chosen area over three years.
We're looking for graduates who not only have the capability to succeed in our organisation today but also have the potential to be our leaders of tomorrow. And we have set our standards high.
It's important that you share our Values. We are looking for someone who is committed to the role and Diageo from day one. Full of energy, enthusiasm and optimism in everything you do. Following your instincts and standing up for what you feel is right
You'll have the opportunity to work collaboratively while showing your confidence and conviction to challenge people, in pursuit of finding the best and most innovative solutions for Diageo.
Your drive and agility will be applied to overcome challenges and to develop yourself as you progress through the programme.
You're able to build strong relationships in order to learn and grow together, as well as to influence and inspire others to always do better. Many of these relationships will be core to your success now and in the future as you progress through the organisation.
We have a few basic requirements for entry:
We've made it as quick and easy for you to apply as possible, with a four step journey to allow us to get to know you, and you to get to know us. Just follow these steps and you'll soon know whether we're a perfect fit for one another.

I have been working at Diageo full-time (More than 3 years)
Working for Diageo is by far one of the best career moves I have ever done and I would highly encourage any person thinking about joining us to do so - you won't regret it!
Having worked here for 4 years now I have been able to experience a couple of different roles around the business, which is extremely important for me as I'm keen to grow my knowledge and experience throughout various different functions. My team are supportive, caring and will always have my back no matter what, something I have found difficult to find in other organisations.
Other benefits of working for Diageo?
Amazing Office Spaces - during my time here I've been able to visit offices all over the world and trust me you won't find nicer offices! Our global HQ contains a gym, a bar, 6 floors of office spaces, relaxation rooms, faith rooms and more.
Work Life Balance - if work-life balance is something you're after then Diageo is perfect for you! Our flexible hours, dress-code and working from home behaviour benefit not just working parents but everyone.
Development - Diageo have continually coached and developed me to be a better employee, my line-manager couldn't be more supportive of me.
World Class Brands - the Diageo brands were by far the biggest factor encouraging me to work for them. Unlike other companies, Diageo embrace the heritage and legacy of each individual brand. The offices are continually being decorated for new product launches which is always great to see.
There are many other great benefits of Diageo, I could go on forever.
I personally can't think of any cons, it’s a great company with a diverse range of people all of whom get respected and listened too.
Advice to Management
Don't forget to stop and live Diageo's purpose - Celebrating life, every day, everywhere. It's so easy to get caught up in the day job, so every day stop to think about the amazing difference you're making every single day.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Diageo (London, England) in November 2016.
First, I had a face to face with the hiring manager, then once he had confirmed, the next stage was 2 follow up phone interviews with other senior managers in the department.
