Our technology spans across web, mobile, API, big data, machine learning, search, physical point of sale, and scanning systems. We even build servers in boxes and drive them up mountains in deserts to power the most remote events.

Our engineering team values working together in small teams, developing simple solutions to complex problems, and we are committed to releasing open-source packages so others can benefit from and contribute to our work. Weekly demos, tech talks and quarterly hackathons are at the core of how we’ve built our team and product.

Our primary stack is Python, Django, and Celery, all running on AWS with a MySQL backend. Some of the other tools that we use are Redis, RabbitMQ, Cassandra, Hbase, Hive, Backbone, Sass, Git, and much more. We never run out of coffee and the kegbot is always full.

    Application

I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Eventbrite (London, England) in January 2020.

    Interview

The interview process consisted of a phone screening with HR and multiple rounds of 1:1 interviews with members of the team, some in person and some via videoconferencing. Overall, they were friendly people but I was let down by lack of communication and a poor interviewing process. HR asked for references from previous employer and a self-assessment to be completed before the final round of interviews in which I was finally rejected due to a bad interview experience with one of the stakeholders. After that I received a simple email saying that I would receive no offer. It is fair to say that HR called me after asking for it and provided further feedback but I found the whole process was not handled in the best way and I was disappointed to have been asked for references before they had made a decision. For anybody reading this review, make sure you have a clear offer from them before reaching out to former colleagues and line managers, they will ask you references from both.
