Interview

I interviewed during lockdown so everything was done remotely. Initial interview with the Chief of Staff was good and the role sounded interesting. I was then moved to the next stage which involved a task. There were some warning signs at this point as the task covered 3 very detailed areas of HR, all totally separate from each other (compensation, employee engagement and comms), and required a detailed plan on how I'd implement and structure this. I was asked to submit my presentation within a week to then present to the COO. Against my better judgement I decided to put in a fair amount of time to complete this. Once submitted things went quiet until eventually the interview with the COO took place. There was not a single reference to the presentation and an extremely generic interview followed with very high level and broad questions. Around a week later I received a similarly generic rejection email saying "they had progressed other candidates". It appears this role was never filled and my strong suspicion is this task was used to get an idea on how to run some of these processes themselves - a thought shared by another candidate I know who went through the same process. It's incredibly disappointing when businesses do this - do your own work or pay people to put the work in for you.

Beware if you are asked to do a task for them at any stage of the process.

  • We are over the moon after winning the Hottest Social Innovation categories at The Europas! It's a particularly meaningful one for us because from day ) we've been dedicated to de-stigmatizing death, to making it easier for each and every person faced with it, and the people they love who are left behind. It's at the heart of the products we build, the brilliant, thoughtful, creative, committed Farewillians in our team, and in our mission to Change the Way the World Deals With Death. Also a big shout out to all the other winners!

  • We’re really pleased to say that Farewill has been shortlisted in the Social Innovation category at the Europas this week. Since we launched in 2015, we’ve made it easier for thousands of people to prepare for and deal with one of life’s most difficult events. And along the way, our generous customers have pledged over £200million to charity. It’s the public voting stage and, if you like what we're up to, we’d absolutely love your help. It takes about 10 seconds and you can vote for us here: bit.ly/EuropasPublicVote
