The company serves the price-to-beat customers in Texas-New Mexico Power's transmission and distribution territories. It also serves residential, industrial, large and small commercial, and aggregated municipal customers in other competitive regions of Texas. First Choice Power is one of a number of retail electric providers that Electric Reliability Council of Texas oversees to ensure that consumers have a competitive choice of power provider. The company was acquired by Direct Energy in late 2011.
