Good Energy (UK) – Why Work With Us?

One of the biggest things we can all do to tackle climate change is switch to clean power. At Good Energy, we’ve been giving people that choice since 1999. And by working with our customers, generators and investors, we’re achieving our purpose, which is: powering the choice of a cleaner, greener future together.

We source our electricity from our own wind and solar farms, as well as our community of over 1,400 independent renewable generators. From West Country solar farms up to Scottish wind farms, our generators are all based in the UK. All electricity flows through the National Grid. We make sure that what our customers take out of the grid, we’ve fed in from our renewable generators. Which means that, the more people who choose renewable power, the cleaner and greener the UK’s electricity system becomes.

Our fuel mix

Good Energy was set up to give people the choice to do something about climate change by choosing renewable energy for their homes and businesses – and we’ve been doing just that ever since. Take a look at how we’ve grown over the years.

Good Energy now employs over 300 people in the historic market town of Chippenham, Wiltshire. We’re just a 2 min walk from Chippenham train station offering fantastic transport links to London, Bristol and Bath, and within easy reach of surrounding towns and communities.

Our manifesto

We believe that everyone deserves a future on our home planet. Swimming in our rivers, walking in the forest or simply breathing in clean air. This should always be an option; for us, for our children and for their children.

We know that to keep the planet our home we have to get to 100% renewable energy. So that’s what we are working towards every single day.

We exist to give you the ability to generate your own power, not just buy ours. No one owns the sunshine, the wind or the rain, so let’s share it.

Our goal is to turn every home and business into its own clean power station. Get your clean energy from families and businesses in your local community. Power generated by people like you, for people like you.

We believe that we all have our part to play. We do ours not only by empowering you to buy and share clean energy but also through supporting, investing and innovating in clean technologies.

We must be bold, stand up and take action to tackle climate change. We are more powerful together with our customers, generators, shareholders, partners and people. We invite you to stand up with us.

I worked at Good Energy (UK) part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

You are treated as part of a family. You get constant support and coaching the performance lead I worked under was an amazing person. They really encourage their employees to progress (if you can pass probation.) Lots of incentives well paid and it's was the best company I have ever worked for. Bonus is there was absolutely no back stabbing behaviour which I have experienced in other places. It really is fantastic.

    Cons

It is very much target driven with AHT's (average handling time) which doesn't help when contacting other departments when they put you on hold. It means your customer is on hold longer and if working part time doesn't help your stats.

    Advice to Management

Because the AHT'S are so low and it is becoming too target driven you are losing extremely good workers with excellent customer care skills purely because they aren't meeting those targets despite having high ratings consistently with your customers and giving them the outcomes they want. Your other departments need to work with customer care more to help them meet those targets and not setting them up to fail.

    Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Good Energy (UK) (Chippenham, South West England, England) in January 2020.

    Interview

Directed by a third party recruitment company who had constant contact with me, Good Energy were very welcoming and the interviewers consisted of my line manager and a member from the recruitment team at Good Energy. They are both lovely people. But they didn't make it easy for me, they asked some very interesting questions to get to the core of who I am. Within a week I had known the results that I was successful, they gave me a week between my old job and new one, which I really appreciated and I think they were also setting up for me.
