Goodman Masson – Why Work With Us?

undefined

Our growth and success comes from The Experience®, our approach to building a unique working environment and supporting our primary strategic objective ‘To treat our people better than any other business in the UK’.

We remain fascinated with the modern workplace and are committed to workplace change. We believe it has to be a place that challenges, engages and inspires and the four pillars of The Experience® (WORK, GROW, REWARD and CONNECT) ensures it does exactly that.

WORK:

The cornerstone of The Experience® and our promise to provide our people with the right tools and infrastructure to be able to do a great job.

We’ve built a market leading spread and depth of client base with over 360 signed PSA’S, we’re proud of the strength of our candidate portfolio with over 250 finance professionals visiting our offices each week, continuous investment in marketing and our brand is important to us and we regard our business support teams as the very best.

GROW:

Our promise to our people that they will continue to evolve and have the opportunity to professionally develop.

We take this seriously as we recognise the importance of career planning and understanding how you can progress. Our award winning ‘Profitable Growth’ and ‘Sales Management’ programmes create the framework for our training where we look at how to business plan and how to analyse your own progress and performance.

There is more…everyone receives a bi-annual coaching programme, 70% of our people have a mentor and our ‘Women in Leadership’ programme continues to grow in strength and popularity.

REWARD:

We believe that money alone is no longer enough when considering an annual income and that people want a choice of benefits linked to their lifestyle and wellbeing.

Now a registered trademark our flexible benefits package, The Benefits Boutique®, was created by considering the modern day challenges our people face such as buying a house, becoming first time parents or financing long distance holidays.

Our benefits reflect these challenges and include our Mortgage Fund, Knowledge Fund, Student Loan Fund, Home Improvement Loan, Exotic Holiday Fund and a New Parent Loan.

And complimenting all of this is our commitment to maintaining a top decile bonus scheme.

CONNECT:

Free breakfast every day, a weekly visit from a masseuse, a day off on your birthday, an annual subsidised ski trip, an office barber and beauty therapist, our chill out room – just a few of the many benefits that ensure we create an environment that our people want to be a part of and don’t want to leave…and not to mention the 3:30 finish on a Friday.

We have also now raised over £100,000 for Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital with our last annual charity challenge, we cycled from the Machu Picchu to the Amazon. We’re off trekking to Nepal next before we cycle Lands End to John O’Groats.

We believe we have created a unique employee retention and satisfaction programme through The Experience®. To find out more about The Experience® click here

One of our strategic ambitions is to ‘Treat our people better than any other business in the UK’.

And our pursuit in achieving this ambition stems from our unwavering and at times slightly unfashionable belief that creating an environment that our people want to be part of and don’t want to leave is the Company’s primary strategic objective, above all others.

This approach we call The Experience®. It ensures our people have the tools and infrastructure to be successful, have the opportunity to professionally develop, are well & correctly rewarded and can look forward to and enjoy coming to the office.

We also believe that There is more to life than Work® and we use this saying to emphasise the point that life is not just about work...it’s about an experience; it’s about learning new skills, discovering new hobbies and developing new interests. Life is about enjoying ourselves.

And when the UK Intellectual Property Office recognised The Experience® and There is more to life than Work® as registered trademarks in 2014, it provided wonderful recognition of the distinctiveness and uniqueness of our philosophy…they are the first trademarks ever granted on the subject of employee engagement.

We also feel privileged that The Experience® received eight awards last year and that DeeDee Doke, Editor of the Recruiter wrote, ‘What does it take to make an employer of choice? In the recruitment sector, two words: Goodman Masson’…this summed up the aspiration of our brand perfectly.

When hiring, an important part of selecting someone to join us is your ability to demonstrate that you care about your career and that you are looking to develop as a professional.

Once here we deliver on our promise to invest in your development and career.

Training and professional development makes up a large component of The Experience® and falls into 6 main areas..

‘Profitable Growth’ programme
Designed so you learn the skills needed in how to grow a business and how executing a set of goals to deliver strategic objectives moves a business forward.

Sales Management Blueprint

Award winning, this programme moved your skills away from just recruitment…you understand in detail how to business plan and how to analyse the progress made with your client portfolio.,

Coaching Plans

Everyone is assessed bi-yearly through a skills strength and gap analysis from which coaching plans are written to help close any skill gap that exists

Mentor Scheme

Outside of the management framework we believe it’s good to have someone to talk to and take advice from on how you’re building your business and career.

Women in Leadership

Talks about leadership, decision making, personal brand, building a career road map, visibility, the work life issue and most of all how to make it happen.

There’s more to life than Work®

Now a registered trademark, this programme originated to emphasise the point that life is not just about work...it’s about learning new skills and developing new interests. Photography, art, Spanish and wine tasting lessons that take place during working hours.

Raising money for Charity is a big part of what we do. Since our partnership started with ‘Great Ormond Street Hospital’ in 2013 we have raised over £100,000…something we feel very proud of.

We’ve organised two charity balls for over 300 people and each year we send a team of 15 away on our annual challenge…so far we have climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, walked the Great Wall of China, canoed down the Zambezi and mist recently we cycled Machu Picchu in Peru.

And in 2014 we broke the Guinness World Record of the largest gathering of Peter Pans in one place! 284 people gathered on the steps of St Paul’s Cathedral to raise money for GOSH…an amazing day. Why Peter Pan? JM Barrie the creator of Peter Pan gave all the rights to Peter Pan to Great Ormond Street Hospital when he passed away.

    Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3+ months. I interviewed at Goodman Masson (London, England) in January 2013.

    Interview

Messed up. Brought in to the office in January. Met three senior managers and was told I had the job. Called a week later and told the job was not available until April. Called in march and told that my job was no longer available and could I come in for further interviews. Had more interviews offered a job. Started in April then told to leave to weeks later despite topping he company league table in terms of kpi. Ridiculous reason given for termination. Company may be under some trouble.....

    Interview Questions

    • Prepare with all the usual questions. Why do you want to work in recruitment etc.   1 Answer

    Negotiation

Took over four months to have something in place. A lot of the staff are secretly unhappy. Several mentioned leaving
