Built entirely in-house, our tech tools are at the forefront of the industry and serve a wide variety of users, including hosts, guests and our frontline staff, each and every day. Our market-leading software includes:

  • A marketing website, targeted at property owners (written using react-static)
  • A dynamic dashboard for our homeowners, visually and intuitively demonstrating how we are looking after their properties and making them money (written in react.js)
  • A platform to easily book cleaning services, or organise for someone to meet guests at the click of a button (written in next.js) 
  • A helpful mobile scheduling app for our housekeepers, drivers and our check-in staff, so they can stay on top of a busy and ever-changing timetable (written using react-native)
  • A dynamic tool used by our team of pricing experts to accurately price and list homes across multiple booking sites (Airbnb,, HomeAway etc) (written in react.js and python)
  • An algorithmic tool to optimise the schedule of our field staff, so that they can move around the city in the most efficient way (written in node.js and react.js)

    I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at HOSTMAKER (London, England) in June 2019.


    The phone screening went smoothly, I was asked about my prior experience, salary expectation and the project I was supposed to be working on.

    I was then told that they were going to assign me a take home project and schedule an interview to discuss it.

    The assignment itself was trivial and the requirements were vague so there was a lot of room of interpretations.

    After waiting for a couple of weeks they were back with the feedback. It was brief and superficial and pointed out coding styles, choice of libraries and folder structure that didn't match theirs.

    They didn't bother to schedule another call to explain myself. Unfortunately it was just a waste of time and I was left under the impression that whoever is leading that team has no idea what to look after when hiring senior devs.

    Interview Questions

    • No questions asked. I was assigned to make an app with a simple form that makes a request to an endpoint. Don't accept wasting your time, ask for a technical 1:1 instead!   Answer Question
