One firm mentality stretches across the organisation. Indeed we all sit in the open plan, we all have similar equipment on our desks, we all sit in the same chairs. An in-house policy

We do everything relating to our business ourselves; marketing, advertising, processing, the maintenance and design of our website, and we develop and own all of our computer systems. We do this because we want that expertise within our business. We don't use expensive consultants to do things we can do ourselves. If we don't know how to do it ourselves we learn. We pay for external help only when it is too risky, expensive or foolish to do something ourselves.

We have a very successful business and this means that we can provide exceptional rewards.

Our graduate scheme has a simple purpose: to find future leaders and give them the tools to succeed.

On this bespoke two year programme hand-picked graduates will experience many of the departments that underpin our company, directing their own career path. During the scheme you will:

  • Rotate across a number of core departments, including marketing, investment research, compliance, HR and office accounts, to build knowledge and skills
  • Specialise in your chosen business area, understanding the nuances that will make you successful in your career
  • Complete structured personal development and network with your colleagues

Alongside your departmental rotations, you will work with senior managers and directors to develop skills such as leadership, presenting, and lateral thinking. Hargreaves Lansdown will support you in studying towards professional qualifications that fit your chosen career path.

There is no better way to build a wealth of experience and a rounded skillset. Digital Marketing Apprenticeship

Creative thinker? Technology minded?

Creating and editing engaging customer focused content for use on our website is a daily challenge. Such an apprentice will need to focus on what content is working, what’s not and what’s not earning enough. It will be up to them to change, amend and tweak content so every word and image is having the greatest impact. It’s about creating the right content at the right time to engage our users. This structured programme will provide a great blend of experience, training and qualifications for an exciting career in one of the fastest growing areas of marketing today.

Helpdesk Consultant Apprenticeship

Customer focussed? Pride yourself on excellent service?

At the very heart of Hargreaves Lansdown success over the past 30 years has been our deep understanding of our customers’ needs and fierce determination to be the best at what we do. It is the helpdesk team that on a daily basis delivers our ‘knock your socks off service’. During your apprenticeship you will gain a detailed understanding of our products and industry regulations alongside qualifications, providing a great start for a career in financial services.

Service Desk Analyst Apprenticeship

Want a career in IT? A problem solver?

This apprenticeship might just be for you. The Service Desk team are responsible for dealing with IT problems and queries within Hargreaves Lansdown. You will be on the front line for our IT team and perform diagnostics to resolve faults. In addition there will be a number of IT projects for you to get involved with. In addition you will complete your apprenticeship qualifications in IT. This combination of on-the-job experience and qualifications provide a fantastic foundation to a career in IT.

    I worked at Hargreaves Lansdown full-time (Less than a year)


    - Lovely colleagues
    - Upper management are incredibly supportive, approachable and willing to listen to new ideas.
    - Office is well designed and pleasant to be in
    - Career progression can be very rewarding if you're pro-active
    - Training and educational support is always at hand
    - Ethical company with strong ties to its foundation
    - Great team socials
    - Management make a real effort for colleagues to be regularly rewarded (yoga classes, occasional free lunches/pizza delivery, generous bar tabs, healthy mind sessions)


    - Pay and bonus is quite low for the responsibility/dedication required.
    - Overtime is an essential daily routine
    - Understaffed (but allows for more extensive training/progression)

    Advice to Management

    - Increase salary or introduce better overtime pay
    - Introduce a better training plan for new joiners for departments
    - Better benefits would be a bonus (pension contributions are far too low for a financial services company, private medical should be standard to include mental health service provision for all staff)
