I have been working at Hewitson Walker full-time

    Pros

KPIs are realistic, which means you can manage your own time and desk. You are given full responsibility for your market and the management are trusting in your own strategies.

    Cons

Sometimes there could be more support from management, and the formal training is fairly generic, but enough to get you up and running.

    Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Hewitson Walker.

    Interview

Telephone interview then face to face with 2 senior managers that lasted approximately 1 hour. Put at ease, not overly corporate. Given background of the business and outlined strategy going forward. Transparent about the role and what was expected. Lengthy discussion about skills, transferable skills, key drivers. Very smooth process.

    Interview Questions

    • Good balance of competency based questions and personal questions.   Answer Question

    Starting a Career in Accounting

Becoming an accountant can be very rewarding but it involves further education and formal certification along with a firm commitment to learning your trade. Have you asked yourself the following questions? Do I possess the qualities needed to become an accountant? Can I start a successful career after four years of studying or do I need a master's degree?
