    Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at ITC Secure (London, England)

    Interview

I applied through recruitment agency WBRS. It was a contract role based at a client site in Woking. There was a day rate range specified in the recruiter's ad and on speaking with the recruiter I told them my expected day rate, which was within the advertised range.

An interview was arranged at the Boatman’s House office. Strangely, one of recruiters from WBRS wanted to meet up outside before I went in the interview for a brief chat about the interview. Anyway, the interview with one of ITC's Information Security Consultants went well and we discussed my relevant experience and the role. One of their other consultants was unable to make the interview but they said he would ring me for quick chat later that morning.

The agent rang me as soon as I came out and wanted to know how it went. He said he would ring ITC to get an update. He rang back a few minutes later to say they liked me but would only be able to pay me £100 less per day than what previously agreed (strange as ITC hadn't finished the interview process at that point and I recall the interviewer saying he had to rush to another meeting straight after). I smelt BS straight away from the agent, who then tried to belittle my experience/skills to justify it. I did have a quick phone interview with the other consultant at ITC later that morning and that went well too.

There was a later call with the the recruiter who was still saying they would only pay the lower rate. As a result of the agent being so obnoxious and insulting, I withdrew from further negotiations with them. I suspect ITC Secure were completely oblivious to how unscrupulous and dodgy the recruiter was. They lost a quality candidate as a result.
    Interview

I was asked mainly about my relevant experience - not so much specific technical questions.
